for coming to parties "say hi to the wife" the whole nine; matthews is a hack of the 1st order imo he does the cursory yada-yada "i worked for tip o'neil" shtick but it doesn't play anymore if ever it did

plus, as ever the good candidate for blackmail...the right knows he loves his job being paid for being a blovacious, ego driven talking head and plays to that weakness
