Sad kitty
Lucy's not feelin' too swell. She's got flea gunk on the back of her neck and she wants it off because it feels icky.

4. I gave her nibbles, lots o' skritchins and nuzzles
Brushed her, too.

She'll be okay in a day or two when it dries and the nasty ol' fleas are all gone.

6. It's hard to get good ones
She doesn't sit still for long — I was surprised she let me take the bunch that produced this one — and besides, autofocus and black don't work well together.

10. Yup, black kitties are VERY hard to photograph.
And it's not just the autofocus, getting the exposure right is tough too, it tries to expose for the shadows and gets confused by the black subject so renders it lighter, and all the rest of the picture gets blown out.

2. Awwwww....
I know how much cats hate stuff like that, but it's for her own good.

12. Ha! She scratched me a little last night
when I was puttin' the gunk on her. If I tried to bathe her, I'd probably have to go to the ER afterward.

That's a two-person deal: one to hold, one to scrub.

9. Poor girl. Quinn flips out over the stuff, he'll go nuts for about
10-15 minutes running around in circles trying to lick his shoulder blades after he gets dosed with it (it's actually pretty funny to watch), then he calms down and is fine. Althea just gives me the "woe is me" look and cry, then goes back to normal purry self almost instantly.

11. ask your vet about capstar
i had a very bad flea infestation in the house a couple of years ago. nothing worked, collars, flea gunk, sweeping & mopping the floors daily, washing clothes & sheets, etc. i mentioned it to my vet, who uses capstar when my dogs board at her place & asked if it was ok for cats. she gave me the pills (they're small & you can really hide them in treats). i used them, then did another round of mopping/sweeping & voila, flea problem gone. :)

the stuff starts working really quickly, though, & only lasts 3 days, so you can use capstar in conjunction with flea gunk or collars.

13. Hope that Lucy
is feeling better soon. This is my 2nd favorite pic of my cat Tippy, I've posted my most favorite before.

Yes, our pets sure get us through some hard times, and they ask for so little. Actually, mine in her old age has gotten exceedingly demanding!
