Oh, everytime it rains... |
|
It rains pennies from heaven. Don’t you know each cloud contains Pennies from heaven?
You’ll find your fortune Falling all over town. Be sure that your umbrella Is upside down.
Trade them for a package Of sunshine and flowers. If you want the things you love You must have showers.
So when you hear it thunder, Don’t run under a tree. There’ll be pennies from heaven for you and me.
Billie Holiday with the Teddy Wilson Orchestra, 1936

1. I've got the world on a string, |
|
Sittin' on a rainbow. Got the string around my finger. What a life. What a world. I'm in love.
And entirely from memory. Ahhh...they don't write 'em like that anymore.

...when they were written like that I can learn the words to the song quicker and sing along with it more.
This ones just been an earworm for me today!

6. Did I ever tell you about the time... |
|
I was on a layover (airline pilot) in Amsterdam the day Sinatra died. Around the cocktail hour, I walked over to the karaoke/piano bar crews frequented.
With just the right amount of booze (not too much, not too little), when the moon is right and there's a warm wind out of the south, I can do a pretty good Sinatra.
"We need a Sinatra memorial.", I said. He got out all the Sinatra karaoke discs.
It lasted until the wee hours and I didn't have to buy a drink the entire night. Them wuz the days. :-)

cheek to cheek riter(s): irving berlin
Heaven, I’m in heaven And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak And I seem to find the happiness I seek When we’re out together dancing cheek to cheek
Heaven, I’m in heaven And the cares that hung around me through the week Seem to vanish like a gambler’s lucky streak When we’re out together dancing (swinging) cheek to cheek
Oh I love to climb a mountain And reach the highest peak But it doesn’t thrill (boot) me half as much As dancing cheek to cheek
Oh I love to go out fishing In a river or a creek But I don’t enjoy it half as much As dancing cheek to cheek
