Rented "The Aristocrats" the other day...
certainly wasn't offended, but - eh. Just eh.

Though I did like several tellings of the joke: the card guy, the mime, the clown, South Park and the finale of Gilbert Gottfried's telling at Hefner's roast.

Who here has seen it? What did you think?

1. The mime, the card guy, Sara Silverman, Bob Sagat and Gilbert
Gottfreid all had me roaring. The rest. . . eh, I snickered here and there.

Sarah Silverman was frickin hysterical though :P

2. I wanted to find the NY Observer's article on
Gottfried at the roast - just did a superficial search and couldn't find it, though. One of those pop culture things that interest me.

4. I think Silverman was my favorite though, she was just so into it
and so serious with it, she made it sound like a true story, and the way she closed it was freakin hysterical.

3. I loved it.
I saw it in a theatre, and maybe the funniest part wasn't in the movie at all - it was the people leaving fifteen minutes in after finding out first-hand just how rude this movie was going to be, despite being bombarded by warnings beforehand.

Or, I was, anyway. I'm 22, and look... 17-18 or so? Maybe that had something to do with it.

5. I saw it last night
Loved Carlin doing the runny shit riff & Sarah Silverman's autobiographical take, and thought the card bloke was brilliant but overall it was rather 'meh'.

The only thing that I had a little trouble with was Doug Stanhope & ??? telling the joke to their babies, but none of the maerial offended me in the slightest. In fact I was rather disappointed at how tame much of it was, given a lot of modern comedy fare ("Jam" & "Nighty Night" for eg) or stuff like the 'Derek & Clive' sessions (who did the "kick her in the cunt" line nearly 25-years ago). With the exception of Bob Sagat & Gottfried (I think it was him who did the rectal bleeding from paternal fisting bit), it seemed only the lesser known comics (or the ones I'd never heard of!) who were willing to go all out. I also wish they'd've explored contemporary taboos more - particularly how terms of racial abuse have replaced most swear words on levels of offense. Plus in the light of all this cartoon bollocks, it's suprising Islam was never touched on (in fact aside from a couple of references, blasphemous aspects were pretty much ignored too.

(I don't know if the above paragraph makes great sense - it's very, very late here & I really need to sleep.)
