What was the first and last concert you attended?
Edited on Sun Feb-05-06 10:49 AM by DanCa

They are very eclectic. I even have some Cake on a children's album. They did a remake of Mahna Mahna from The Muppets Movie.

3. First, ELO in 1980.
My brother had an extra ticket, and wasn't jazzed about taking his little sister, but didn't want to waste the ticket (we're 12 years apart- I'm sure I was cramping his style!)

Last was probably Neil Young, summer of 2003 on the Greendale tour.

4. The first was some German orchestra based in Kaiserslautern
The first rock concert was an underground thrash metal band from Florida called Nasty Savage.

The last live concert I attended was a Chicago area band called The Bad Examples. Given that they broke up years ago, if you're familiar with the band, you know how long it's been since I saw a live show.

11. My first was in '81
It was a "Jam" at a Stadium venue in NOLA near Tulane. The featured groups were Ozzy, Loverboy and Foreigner along with a local band that had a bit of national exposure, LaRoux. My last one I believe was in the early 90's I am sad to say. My last concert was The Wiggles. Yes, I have small kids. :) Those guys really aren't that bad and they are real musicians; not sappy like Barney!

46. Oh my god. Thanks for reminding me. That was my first, too.
I saw Porter Wagner and Dolly at the Colisseum in Jackson, MS. I even got to meet Dolly, and she told me what a pretty little girl I am. I just remember staring at her eyelashes--she had on fake eyelashes caked with mascara, but I thought that they looked like spiders.

Anyway, I have loved Dolly ever since. To be a little girl and to have Dolly tell you that your pretty, well, it just made my life. :D

Thanks for that memory.

This is fantastic.

I'm heading to Monroe in a couple of weeks for Mardi Gras. Did you ever go to Monroe's Mardi Gras? It's the most fun! One huge street party.

I have several relatives in Monroe.

Did you ever go to the Dock on the Reservoir? What about Town Creek Saloon on Fortification Street in Jackson?

I saw RATT in Jackson, saw the Scorpions, saw Poison...the list never ends...saw David Lee Roth on his solo tour twice, saw Van Halen everytime they came through..and I even saw Conway Twitty. LOL!

This is beyond cool--I've always liked you, but now I just LOVE you. :D :hi:

72. Steve Miller
He did a free outdoor show back in 1999 or 2000 and it was one I didn't want to miss. A couple of months before that was David Lee Roth in a small venue for only $25 a ticket. A couple of years ago Fleetwood Mac came to town and tickets were $60 and more not including the bullshit service fee. My wife and I said to hell with that and from now on we just buy the concert DVD's of different bands.

74. First: R&R Show, Brooklyn Paramount. Last: Miles Davis...
at the Greek Theatre, Berkeley.

The R&R Show was one of several I atteneded in the late 50's. Probably put together by the late Alan Freed. Featured all the greats except Elvis. Saw Chuck Berry, Richie Valens, Buddy Holly & the Crickets, Fats Domino, Bill Haley and the Comets and all the great doo wop goups. Used to pay $1.25 to see the first show of the day and then hide under the seats after each show... stayed all day and night. I got to the first row and I'm proud to say that some of Little Richard's sweat ended up on my smiling face.

Miles Davis at Berkely was also special. It was in the late 80's and hee was fronted by a Brazilian Jazz group and then John McGlaughlin doing some solo jazz guitar. Miles was amazing and he had a sax player that was really hot that night. Atmosphere at the Greek Theatre is very special.

First one (I can remember) must have been Nirvana at Roskilde Festival 1992 on a gorgeous lazy friday evening.

Last one I've seen was Brian Wilson at Roskilde Festival 2005 on a rather dusty sunday early evening.

80. Van Halen was my first,
my last was The Big River Concert with Ellis Marsallis, Don Vappie, Victor Goines, Peter Martin, Dianne Reeves, Jeremy Davenport and a lot of other great jazz musicians.

There's a lot of space and shows between those two, but I would still go see either of them again any time.

82. First: Sha Na Na, 1979, Ohio State Fair. Last: Dillinger Escape Plan.
Going to see High on Fire this Thursday and Isaac Hayes next Tuesday.

If I'd have saved all my ticket stubs in between this time, I'd have a stack nearly six inches high. I used to go to a concert once every 14 days back in the 80s-90s. Not so much anymore.
