1. You're dehydrated.

Alcohol is a diuretic. What you are experiencing is a small taste of what it feels like to die of thirst.

You can prevent hangovers. Drink plenty of water before you start drinking. When you are near the end of your drinking session, start drinking a lot of water again. After you are done drinking, drink even more water. Drink water 'til you slosh. If you have to wake up in the morning, don't go to the bathroom before bed, as having to pee will help wake you up later.
