Okay, now I'm pissed: The Stones didn't play my favorite song!
It's not bad enough that we lose the Super Bowl. It's not bad enough that the zebras had no love for Seattle today, either. Let's talk about the Stones.

Uh, network censors? If you're going to have the Rolling Stones as your halftime act, at least let them perform uncensored, for God's sake. Yeah, they're singing about sex. Yeah, there are a few words in their lyrics that have a sexual connotation. One cannot tell me that Mick Jagger's attempting to sing the words "make a dead man come" is more obscene than Michael Jackson's repeatedly grabbing his package during a Super Bowl halftime performance...

While I'm on the subject of Things That Piss Me Off, let's talk about song selection. There was NO love for Julie today. I've been listening to the Stones since junior high school. My favorite Stones song is "Tumbling Dice," quickly followed by "Gimme Shelter" and "You Can't Always Get What You Want". Did I hear any of these? NO. I was happy to hear "Satisfaction," but Mick, I just haven't felt the same way about "Start Me Up" since you sold the rights to Bill Gates for a metric buttload of money.

It's time for me to calm down, have a little bit more Guinness, and start meditating on the fact that "pitchers and catchers report" is less than a month away. In the meantime, guys, if you're going to have the world's greatest rock band on at halftime, it might be good if they sang more than three songs...

Julie

1. I'm sorry, Julie
We'll always have Ohana.

I thought my dad was going to have a stroke.

4. Was he upset about the Stones
or the game? DH has decamped to the downstairs. I think he'll maybe talk to me in a week or so. ;-)

>We'll always have Ohana.<

That's right! I know the game would have gone much better with some tropical drinks and an order of tempura vegetables! ;-)

6. First about the touchdown taken away from Darrell Jackson
Then about the one they just gave to the doofus Steelers QB. My mom had to actually tell him to get up and walk downstairs before his head exploded.

They did enjoy seeing the Stones. My mom always loves telling me how Mick Jagger owes all his great moves to doing Pilates late in life (so does she).

Ah, you know, we had a fun day and a great ride this season, and to coin a cheesy sports cliche, at the end of the day at least we get to live in Seattle! ;)

10. Did you SEE that hip swivel? WOW.
>Mick Jagger owes all his great moves to doing Pilates late in life<

I might have to take up Pilates. I'm 45. Imagine what I could do by the time I'm Mick Jagger's age. My friend thinks I should join her bellydancing class, too.

I'm sorry about your dad. I know I was NOT happy. DH seems a little calmer about the whole thing than I am. You're right, we get to live in beautiful Seattle at the end of the day, and they get to live in...FREEZING COLD for three months a year... ;-)

14. You should definitely bellydance!

You'd be great at it and love it too.

I go to a place in Fremont, which I love ( www.visionarydance.com ) but find a place closer to you and give it a try! :woohoo:

It was so beautiful this morning. I saw two hawks this morning in the trees and *thought* maybe it was a good omen in the sunshine. Alas, it was not to be, but that #12 flag was flying high over the Needle and we still love our boys. :pals:

3. I get what you're saying
I'm still a little miffed that the song I most wanted to hear didn't get played at a concert I went to in 1991. Oh and the change of opening act sucked, too.

I am a dork. :dunce:

9. Oh. hell. no.
I went to go see Metallica in Oakland. They didn't play One. I was *pissed.* Still a good show, though.

12. Yeah, my Daddy told the school I had a dentist's appointment :)
Dad used to scalp tickets for extra money. He wanted a set of these but had to work, so I called up and put them on his credit card (having a very adult voice had it's advantages) and he took me as a thank you since I wanted to go so bad.

I must have been 11 though, since I was in junior high. Must have been 1992, after all.

13. Such a tender age to be a headbanger
I dunno what I was listening to at 11. "Romper Room's Greatest Hits," prolly.

Hey, Miss Nancy had some pipes on her. :headbang:

8. I was glad to see Aretha Franklin
She is soooo cool. DH and I flew to Chicago to see her several years ago because she doesn't fly -- in other words, I don't know if she's ever performed in Seattle. The sound people were having a serious problem with Aaron Neville's microphone, that's for sure.

7. The world's greatest rock band sounded sloppy and unpracticed.
I could see (and hear) Keith, at times, just playing a chord and letting it ring, and doing some stupid dance thing - when he could have been doing a solo. The "guitar weaving" was gone, Ron Wood was doing just about all the solos.

Mick's mic wasn't audible for the beginning of "Start Me Up". He messed up some of the lyrics, and I'd rather he just leave out the verse than sing "You make a dead man...." and get the last word censored, or whatever.

Keith also started "Satisfaction" too early. It seemed like Charlie and Ron were the only guys who could play anything (and Ron Wood SUCKS).

The Glimmer Twins ain't so glimmery anymore.
