34. Mine did! I didn't listen to the odds-makers...but to my hometown 'heart'
and almost precisely predicted the winning points.

It was NOT "bad" calls...but the passion, and energy, and skill of a clearly superior team.

As I said the other night on one of these threads (to Seahawk fans), in Pittsburgh-type street-talk: "Yous are gonna lose." And lose you did...fair-and-square.

17. You're 100% correct...
...That was the last NFL game I will ever watch. I didn't cheer for a certain team to win, but those refs. were jokes. I'm serious, the NFL will never appear on my screen again.

2. The Steelers Are the Bush 2000 of The NFL
Don't tell me that game wasn't rigged -- it was easily one of the worst officiated championship games ever.

-- The "pass interference" in the first quarter was an absolute JOKE.
-- Rothlsburger never broke the plane in the third quarter.
-- At least three times, Seahawk drives were killed by mysterious holding calls (one of which was so obvious even John Madden noticed).
-- Never in my lifetime of watching the NFL have I ever seen a team who just threw an interception get called for an illegal BLOCK (you can't block when you DON'T HAVE THE FRIGGIN' BALL!) when trying to make a tackle.
-- Without that call, the option pass never gets called.

Throw that Arn Sh*tty Beer down the urinal where it belongs, and put the One for the Thumb there, too.

5. There were bad calls both ways guys.
When Hasselbeck fell on the ball and it squirted out, that should have been an interception, and it was ruled dead.

I can pick a number of calls that were ruled in favor of the Seahawks and were wrong too.

I'm sure not going to cheer the officials, but like it or not, the Steelers did win!

Both teams made some BIG mistakes! If the Seahawks are "the best team in the NFL, they'll be back next year! This year, the only 2 players who really looked good on their team were Hasselbeck and Jackson. You need the whole team to win!

I can't wait til I get to throw my sour grapes around when the Browns win a Super Bowl; but I'm already 37, I probably won't get the chance before I leave this earth.

You remind me of all of the chip-on-the-shoulder Okie State Cowboy fans down here who just can't LIVE without planting conspiracy theories about the tradition of the OU Sooners each and every day.

So, what conspiracy theory was in play when the ref's overturned paolumalus interception at Indy?

35. Truth Hurts, Don't It?
Sorry if it does.

And the answer to the INT at Indy was, Peyton Manning and the kicker choked that game away in the last minute.

Plus, the Steelers played their best game of the season during THAT game. If they played like that yesterday we'd have no argument.

The Steelers were generally outplayed yesterday -- but they were the more opportunistic team. And Rothlesburger's pass to Ward on the 3rd-and-28 was one of the best plays in Super Bowl history. I tipped my hat to him on that play and I do it now, that turned the game around enough to allow them to take advantage of the crappy calls.

As for my Browns ... now that Phil Savage has control, I give him 2-3 years before The Forces of Good finally overcome yunz.

You listen to what John Madden says? HA! He is the biggest idioit in broadcasting! What kind of doofus won't ride in airplines? ANyway that being said, yep the calls all went Pittsburgh's way. After the shitty officiating we put up with in INDY, I think it's pretty damn fair. Also its good for business. There are about 12 seahawks fans and probably 15 million steeler fans. Go start a dotcom and drink some coffee you friggin loser. Iron city light beer is delicious, you just don't know.

15. But this isn't about the economy, is it? The Superbowl?
That's what I hate about the Superbowl. It's a national spectacular, when it should be about the national pro football championship.

I think there's shitty officiating all over the NFL -- and I've begun to lose interest in the game because of it. It's too much of a packaged product for me.

The halftime sucked -- Jagger was bleeped twice in a 5-second delay and they sounded rushed and ragged.

The commercials really sucked. Worst ever.

The game was so poorly officiated that I felt it was all up to the refs who won. Sorta like the Supreme Court in Bush v. Gore in 2000.

But, I don't that it's fair that a team that got screwed by officiating one week, thinks it's fair for their opponent to get screwed the following week. The opponent that gets screwed may not have the advantage of having games "go their way" very often. Some teams play under a black cloud of biased officiating for years.

I liked the Steelers to win this game. I'm happy for them. But the officiating smelled bad. For instance, the Seahawk TD called back for a push-off, I have a feeling the ref would have let that one stand for the Steelers.

19. Arn is Shitty
God I hate that stuff...That said, I just rewatched the game on DVR and high speed, slowing for the key plays and calls.

1) The Pass Interference was a good call. He did push off, and it did affect the coverage. There was some contact prior to that but it was incidental, on both sides. That contact though was definately Pass Interference. If you don't like it, tough. That's football. I think that penalty would be called 9 times out of 10, or more.

2) Roethlisberger broke the plane. Barely, and not for very long, but he did. My DVR doesn't have the nice features the Instant Replay booths have, but it was able to slow it enough that it looked like he broke the plane by about an inch, for just an instant.

3) The holding calls were anything but mysterious. In one case the offensive lineman literally tacked the defender. The one Madden 'noticed', even he admited could have been holding from another angle. I saw holding though. He grabbed the jersey and pulled around on it. It was a lousy job of holding, but it was holding.

4) The block call was crap. That was completely and indisputibally a bad call. He was tackling Taylor. He never went for any type of chop block, he was going for a QB safe tackle. The option pass as you put it was one of the gadgets that the Steelers run. Generally they run two or more a game, so that was bound to happen at some point, and that was it.

1) That was offensive pass intereference, period.

2) Here, I don't know. Close, in any case.

3) The holding call prior to the INT was a good call.

4) The illegal block call was bad. Clearly a tackle.

Steelers DL, then the Seahawks would indeed win...didn't happen.

I'm not a fan of either team...(Being born & raised in SF).

But, the Steelers are the 2006 Super Bowl Champs...And the better team defiantly won.

The Steelers adjusted to Mike Holmgren's decent game plan, (although, well, officiating aside)...

The Steelers still deserve to be the Champions...A Wild Card team peaking perfectly, just at the right time is a tribute to their coach, Bill Cowher.

Cheers!!!

20. CONGRATULATIONS STEELERS!
YOUR TEAM PAID THE REFS MORE MONEY! WAY TO GO!

And for everyone who says "sour grapes"; you are obviously a Steeler fan and you know goddamn well that you would be saying the same thing if every call had gone against you and the Seahawks made 'miraculous' touchdowns and your TDs were wiped away with magical calls.

To be fair, the Steelers may not have directly paid off the Refs (though I would like an investigation into it); the Refs may just have been screwing over Holmgren and the Seahawks because of the earlier problem in the season when Holmgren reported the refs had made an incredibly bad call in a 'Hawks game. He was reprimanded and got fined. This may have been axe-grinding.
