1. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about your life right now, what would you change?

My earrings. My daughter gave them to me for Mother's Day when she was in 2nd grade. They have dolphins on them.

10. AIDS
I was at a brunch yesterday and a friend was telling me about a friend who works for a government agency that deals with AIDS in Africa (I forget what it's called.) Anyway, he was telling me how the long-time director, who spoke 5 African languages and had loads of experience was replaced by a friend of the Bush's whose only experience was that she taught an Abstinence class in Arkansas!

3. Answers.
1. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about your life right now, what would you change?

I am content with my live, but I would prefer a job with more intellectual challenge to it.

2. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about America right now, what would you change?

Not my business to change things about a foreign country.

64. High and low in different senses.
That's my point.

Yes I work, but I switch seemlessly between working and posting, also my predecessor was apparently less use than a chocolate tea-pot and thus I'm still thought of as highly efficient. Oh, and my boss is based on Warrington a good couple of hundred miles away....but yes, definitely a good thing you're not my boss.

7. Mine:

1. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about your life right now, what would you change?

I'd get that apartment I want, instead of waiting for the landlord to screen the 7 or so applicants for it and rejecting us because of some nebulous factor. (The application is still pending.)

26. I know how I got the idea.
Before I was six years old, my little sister and I had a very bad life. But we also had a beautiful, young aunt who visited a couple of times a year, and our guardians had told us that Aunt Bobbi would be visiting "tomorrow." The land across the fence from our guardians' land was lovely: green, rolling pasture, with ponies in the garden. I _just knew_ that that had to be "tomorrow."

When I was six, Aunt Bobbi adopted my little sister and me. For the past 36 years, she's been not only my Mom, but my best friend and co-conspirator in life. :)

31. Just so you know,
I don't have any bad feelings toward my birth mother. She was extremely young, drug-addicted, and man-dependent, and I consider my adoption one of the best things that ever happened to both my natural mother and myself. It allowed her to get clean and divest herself of crushing burden that parenting was to her, and it allowed me to be raised by people better able to deal with a kid who had (and still has) a lot goofy ideas. :) Moms, rock. (That's a prop to you, too, gf.)

Edited on Mon Feb-06-06 12:16 PM by LynneSin

  1. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about your life right now, what would you change?: I'd start getting more active with some volunteer groups that I do contribute some to but would like to do more

  2. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about America right now, what would you change? That's easy - get rid of George W. Bush and anyone associated with his regime

  3. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about the world right now, what would you change? I'd do the typical beauty pageant answer which would be World Peace

  4. Of all the things you are wearing right now, which is the oldest, and what's its story? Well if it's what I'm wearing right now that's kinda tough because I'm housecleaning wearing a pair of flannel Old Navy bottoms with a tank top. And to be honest - there isn't much of a history to it other than it's kinda smellling right now since I've been cleaning all morning and I could use a shower

  5. Of all the things you are wearing right now, which is the newest, and what's its story? See above

  6. What's the weirdest way you ever got injured? I have a scar on my shin from where I tripped over a tombstone while blindfolded, dressed as Bugs Bunny (in a homemade costume) searching for Daffy Duck. Not kidding

  7. Do you consider yourself to be low or high maintenance? I'm a little of each. Most days I'm low maintenence but it's fun to be high maintenence from time to time

  8. What's the name of the book nearest to you right now? Total Guide to Wine which is a complimentary (and very thick) magazine from Total Wine & More chain here in Delaware. I have the issues from the last 4 years.

  9. What are you putting off?: House cleaning and dropping off my old desktop to a friend who I promised the computer for her daughter

  10. What future plan are you most excited about?: My future as a whole is exciting cause who knows what the hell will happen next

My friend is also lucking out - I left all my CDs I had uploaded on my computer. Well, I deleted some of the stuff on there not appropriate for a 3rd grader, which was mainly some of the rap and this local band that sings alot about marijuana.

34. Here are mine...
1. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about your life right now, what would you change?

Lose weight, no question. 30-40 lbs would improve my life dramatically. It's always a constant struggle for me. I don't know what it is with the weight issue, but it's just the hardest thing in my life to deal with. I quit smoking cold turkey after 10 years, and I could quit 10 times over for every pound I lose, that's how hard weight loss is for me. It would be really great if I would just wake up tomorrow morning and have it gone.

2. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about America right now, what would you change?

I would give everybody an IQ of 140 and the knowledge equivalent of a Master's Degree. Bad governments come and go, but a smart, knowledgeable populace can deal with most problems effectively. Vast quantities of ignorance and naivete in many parts of the US are the #1 reason, IMO, why the Bush administration gets away with all the crap it does.

3. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about the world right now, what would you change?

Ship all the religious fundies of every stripe off to some other planet so the rest of us normal people can finally live in peace. Or maybe I should say that I hope the rapture comes soon so that all those assholes go away!

4. Of all the things you are wearing right now, which is the oldest, and what's its story?

The diamond in my engagement ring was the diamond my grandmother and my mother both wore in their engagement rings. Whenever a woman in my family gets engaged, her mother sends her the diamond to have placed in a setting of her choice. It's a small stone (which sadly makes other people think my husband was cheap :eyes: , which is totally not the case) but I treasure it greatly. It makes me feel connected to my past and my family.

5. Of all the things you are wearing right now, which is the newest, and what's its story?

I'm wearing a purple sweater that I bought two weeks ago.

6. What's the weirdest way you ever got injured?

I broke a tooth while eating salad. I have no idea how.

7. Do you consider yourself to be low or high maintenance?

Low maintenance about the traditional girly things, high maintenance about some other things that most other people don't care too much about.

8. What's the name of the book nearest to you right now?

"Applied multiple regression/correlation analysis for the behavioral sciences". A little light reading over lunch. :-)

9. What are you putting off?

Working on figuring out how to help my undergraduate research assistant with a difficult statistical analysis. Also finishing a book chapter I've been working on.

10. What future plan are you most excited about?

Buying a house next year if the housing market deflates a little more.

1. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about your life right now, what would you change?

ONE thing? I got lots! My health, I wouldn't be increasingly disabled and fear what that will bring.

2. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about America right now, what would you change?

I'd make it a real democracy again.

3. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about the world right now, what would you change?

Violence. Casual violence. THe assumption it'll get you what you want. Fuckin' kills me - life is rough enough without making it worse.

4. Of all the things you are wearing right now, which is the oldest, and what's its story?

Well, here khash goes again. I am wearing a pair of white briefs that my ex gave me (he's an underwear fetishist). He bought them for himself, but they were too small. Too small for me too, but I'm doing laundry and they're all I've got. Some sort of odd Swiss brand he mail ordered.

5. Of all the things you are wearing right now, which is the newest, and what's its story?

A winter green shirt. A Christmas present from my parents.

6. What's the weirdest way you ever got injured?

I dropped a frozen chicken on my toe and broke it. And I did it twice! Am I an idiot or what? I also ran face first into a tree and needed stitches. So I guess we know whether I'm an idiot or not :)

7. Do you consider yourself to be low or high maintenance?

Very high!

8. What's the name of the book nearest to you right now?

Life During Wartime - a anthology of short stories. The story " Meanwhile, In A Small Room A Small Boy Waits" had me sobbing.

9. What are you putting off?

Housecleaning. I hate it. And I'm no good at it.

10. What future plan are you most excited about?

I have no future plans beyond the next few hours. I can't afford them. There are plans I'd like to make, like to have happen - but I can't do it because I don't really believe they'll happen. Besides, taking life as it comes ain't so bad either.

Khash.

58. Those are great questions
1. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about your life right now, what would you change?

I would not have chronic knee pain. :grr:

2. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about America right now, what would you change?

Only one? Then I guess I'd change the current admin to a democratic one.

3. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about the world right now, what would you change?

I'd eliminate AIDs.

4. Of all the things you are wearing right now, which is the oldest, and what's its story?

My necklace. It's a purple stone shaped like a heart and was given to me by a friend 7 years ago. It had been given to her 20 years before by a woman whom she had inspired and she told me I'd inspired her so she wanted me to have it with the provision that if I in turn was deeply inspired by yet another woman, I was to pass it on. I wear it every day.

5. Of all the things you are wearing right now, which is the newest, and what's its story?

My moccasins - lined with fake sheepskin and given to me by my SO on my last birthday. :loveya:

6. What's the weirdest way you ever got injured?

I was 18. I was drunk. It was about 1 in the morning and a friend challenged me to a foot race. We took off on an old, uneven sidewalk in the dark and I was wearing wooden clogs - not a good combination. I stepped wrong, went ass over teakettle, broke my foot and came up running. Won the race but I couldn't walk very well for several weeks. :eyes:

7. Do you consider yourself to be low or high maintenance?

I'm low maintenance. Definitely.

8. What's the name of the book nearest to you right now?

The Dark Valley: A Panorama of the 1930's

9. What are you putting off?

Doing the dishes.

10. What future plan are you most excited about?

Immediate future - going camping in two weeks. Long term - going back to school.

65. Answers!
1. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about your life right now, what would you change? I'd have my MLIS and a good librarian job instead of no grad degree and two dead-end jobs.

2. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about America right now, what would you change? I'd overhaul the government and make it truly of the people, by the people and for the people. Not the current dictatorship.

3. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about the world right now, what would you change? Put an end to all wars/occupations.

4. Of all the things you are wearing right now, which is the oldest, and what's its story? My turtleneck. No real story--just a regular shirt I picked up at K-mart.

66. My answers
1. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about your life right now, what would you change?

I’d know true love and have a successful career

2. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about America right now, what would you change?

Not sure I’m qualified to comment on this because I’m not American but I’d want to go back and undo 9/11. Not only because it was a senseless, tragic, horrific and barbaric event in which so many wonderful, beautiful people were lost and in which so many families were affected but also because I think it’s changed America and the world for the worst and invoked the worst kind of extremes on both sides

3. If you could instantaneously change ONE thing about the world right now, what would you change?

The lack of communication and dialogue between different religion

4. Of all the things you are wearing right now, which is the oldest, and what's its story?

I’m not really sure. I’m only wearing bedtime clothes and they’re relatively new

5. Of all the things you are wearing right now, which is the newest, and what's its story?
See above

6. What's the weirdest way you ever got injured?

Not sure. Probably trying to tear my IV drip off in a fit off delusion while having surgery but my most embarrassing one was falling down the stairs on the second day of school in front of the whole school and getting a nasty gash on my head. Mind you, I also made my best friend because of that incident so I’m not totally regretful it happened

7. Do you consider yourself to be low or high maintenance?

Probably more high maintenance than I’d like to be

8. What's the name of the book nearest to you right now?

The Choice –by Bob Woodward about the 1996 presidential election. It’s actually hard to tell because I’m sitting right next to a bookshelf and it’s about on par with the A-K and L-N World Book dictionaries

9. What are you putting off?
Telling my family about my ideal lifestyle

10. What future plan are you most excited about?

Probably going overseas for my cousin’s wedding
