One of my fish had babies some time in the last month
I discovered it when I cleaned the filter (a cannister) and dumped the water in the sink. After a while, I realized that one of the particles was moving of its own accord, and that it was a very small fishy. Sadly, that was about 3 seconds before the drain took the little guy.

It appeared to be a Tiger Barb.

I can only assume the rest of the babies were probably close to immediately eaten, and some got sucked into the filter system.

Sad.

1. It's either the filter or the mature fishes getting them.
My sister had a few Cichlid babies surviving, but no tiger barbs.

A friend of mine who used to have Kois and Shubunkins in the pond (with a filter pump at the bottom which had large openings), found a bunch of Shubunkin babies once in his filter.

I'm sorry to hear your little guy didn't make it.

3. Had I known she was preggers, I'd have put her in the birthing thing
But I don't know if tigers are live bearers or egg bearers.

If they're egg bearers, I'm not fucking with that. But I do have a birthing room for the live bearers.

I love that name "shubunkin". :-)

5. Barbs are egg bearers.
And for the Shubunkin, I don't know. They are somewhat industrial crosses of goldfishes, like these butterfly Kois. Both aren't natural and very weak. They look nice, that's for sure, but that's all.

4. Yeah, that's what we learned in "Finding Nemo", too.

6. I didn't see it.
I am too sensitive. :-)
