Rolling Stones lyrics were CHANGED for Super Bowl
Edited on Mon Feb-06-06 07:23 PM by Bluebear
on edit:

The Rolling Stones delivered their usual slick rock 'n' roll performance with Mick Jagger stalking the stage, grinding his hips and pouting like a man half his age.

But during "Start Me Up," the line "you make a dead man come" was cut short and a barnyard reference to "cocks" in the new song "Rough Justice" also disappeared....

Back in 1967 the band appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show" on the same day as the first Super Bowl, which was then called the world championship game. They wanted to sing "Let's Spend the Night Together," but Sullivan insisted they change the lyrics to "Let's Spend Some Time Together."

"Jagger consented, reluctantly, but rolled his eyes while he sang," the newspaper said.

1. Did Mickey say the words? Or did somebody pipe them in?
I heard they were changed... but did Mick do it?

Money talks.

Now they're IN their 60's. Sheesh.

9. I don't recall that song being performed
They opened with Start Me Up which had a blanked out word. Then they went into Rough Justice (a new song?) and then finished up with Satisfaction.

Or did I miss something?

10. How far do they have to go to have clean "Family Entertainment"
Bulshit. However, Jagger might have just ab-libbed that part, after all how many years has he been singing that song for?

On an off-hand note, check out my band website at www.myspace.com/thesonsoftomorrow

11. AGAIN????? They did that on the ED SULLIVAN SHOW, years ago
I glanced at that halftime extravaganza, but didn't really notice what the lyrics were. I was too astounded at the sight of the geriatric Jagger twitching about....the batwings hanging off his wrinkled arms were in need of covering, frankly--I would have been better off watching it on a less-sharp TV set!

13. Except they didn't perform that song at the Superbowl Halftime show.
They performed (poorly, in my opinion) three songs:

1. Start Me Up
2. Rough Justice
3. (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction

The lyrics that were changed, or possibly just left out, were from "Start Me Up."

You know, the line where Mick sings, "You'd make a dead man come" during the fade-out.

15. Which halftime show was that song in?
Where I was we saw "Start me up", some new song and "Satisfaction". The words were changed in 1966 or whenever it was they played that song on Ed Sullivan, But I didn't hear it yesterday.........am I going crazy?

watched the 1/2-time show, and they definitely didn't sing that song.

and was not surprised when Jagger either left it out or the network censored it.
