16. Beautiful! He's so shiny! I've ridden an Arab stallion. Nice horses! |
|
My cousin owns an Arab stud horse. They are the beauty queens and kings of horses! Did you know that Arabians have a different skeletal structure than other equines? Arabs have a 17-5-16 structure (ribs, lumbar bones, tailvertebrae) while other breeds have a 18-6-18 structure. This accounts for the high tail carriage!

17. My family used to vacation at a ranch in Ontario that raised Arabians |
|
They were such good riding horses, and so pretty. When I was a teenager, I was a good enough rider to help train the 3 year old geldings for the younger kids to ride. It was really fun-they were very friendly, yet lively horses that liked to run. That's what we were working on-getting them to slow down a little. My friend and I rode them with the group out on some trails-the 3 year olds would stay behind on purpose, so they could run to catch up.
All the horses at the ranch had some arabian blood. At the time, there was one pure arabian male and one female, the male being the son of the female. He was a young, wild horse that no one but the owner rode, but was absolutely gorgeous-he looked like the horse in this picture.
I wish the ranch was still in business as a vacation spot, but I don't think it is. They still breed arabians, I was able to find that much out.

18. I would have never left that ranch! It sounds wonderful! |
|
I loved horses but never had one as a child. I had to ride friend's ponies, take lessons at camp, and ride on vacation. I got to ride in the mountains of Colorado once. It was beautiful and so much fun!
I was forty when I bought my own horse for my Christmas gift!
