NBC: "Cruci-Fixins" Will Not Be In Will & Grace Episode (Christians Upset)
<snip>

Responding to outrage in the Christian community, NBC Friday clarified that no reference to "Cruci-fixins" will be in an upcoming episode of "Will & Grace."

"Some erroneous information was mistakenly included in a press release describing an upcoming episode of 'Will & Grace,' which, in fact, has yet to be written," NBC said in a statement.

The information in question surrounds singer Britney Spears, who was said to be guest starring on "Will & Grace" as a Christian sidekick to gay talk show host Jack McFarland (Sean Hayes), after his fictional network, Out TV, is bought by a Christian TV network.

On the show, it was said that Spears contributed a cooking segment called "Cruci-fixins."

"The reference to 'Cruci-fixins' will not be in the show and the storyline will not contain a Christian characterization at all," the statement said. "We value our viewers and sincerely regret if this misinformation has offended them."

The "Cruci-fixins" episode was reportedly going to air April 13, the day before Good Friday on the Christian calendar.

1. I do so love how the Christian/Republican right don't need references.
One of the fuckwits can write whatever outlandish bullshit in an email they want, offer no actual reference points as to the truth of the statements, send it someone and it will get forwarded around the country to millions of these useless fuckwits, none of whom will bother to check if it's true but who will do whatever the email says, whether it's to "show your love for Jesus by forwarding this on to ten people" or "call the Will and Grace people and tell them we won't stand for our faith being belittled in this manner" to "keep your kids safe because a secular rock band is disguising acid as stickers with the Christian fish symbol on it" to "write your local school board because EVERY SCHOOL BOARD IN THE NATION is proposing to teach evolution by having the kids have sex on the tables while worshipping statues of Darwin and Stephen Hawking and then urinating on the Bible."

3. Even Worse Is NBC's Apology
Why couldn't they just release a press statement which said that there is no such reference in the episode and whoever released that information lied? Geez, they're such weanies. Apologizing for something that didn't even happen!

2. I hope they still write it but change the cooking segment to
include "Jesus Helper". Instructions: just add your own outrage.

4. Good job, Will & Grace. Now the fundies are sure to love you.
:eyes:

If Will & Grace weren't already offensive, I might understand. But it's not 7th Heaven. To think that one religious reference on a show full of raunchy humor will make a difference only shows the cowardice of NBC.

5. It's full of raunchy humour?
I know that American television is milder than British - but if that counts as raunchy humour you guys really must be pretty damn repressed in terms of broadcast media.

6. or I have a dirty mind.
There is a lot of veiled sex humor, which is pretty raunchy by US standards.

Probably fit for an audience with Queen in the UK, though? :P

7. We all have dirty minds over here.
:D

But then I went to a boys' school - that really does train the mind towards dirtiness too.

8. "Cruci-fixins" originally came from The Simpsons
At an ice cream social the church is holding, Reverend Lovejoy dishes out the ice cream with all the "Cruci-fixins" you want!

9. Given that Will and Grace never had an original bone in it's body
it's not surprising that they'd rip off another show's gag.

11. Show me the outrage..
Where were these groups during the comic thing a few days ago. Oh yeah, screaming, "Freedom of speech."

Sure, they didn't burn anything. I bet they (Team Bible) would if two of their countries got occupied by the perceived enemy in the last four years.
