Half Moon Bay California any DUers in the area?
Trying to figure out what these "pillar" looking things are on the cliffs? They sort of look natural but then again no. Any ideas? They are right below the Ritz Carlton.

2. Very interesting.
It looks like they put them there to keep the ground from caving in. But then again, the one on the far right almost appears to be part of the cliff. Weird.

3. Kick because I want to know the answer.
This area is near Pillar Point and I don't know how that headland got its name. I've walked many of the beaches south of here but never the one in the photo.

5. it's the 7th hole
sorry. God, what a hideous building. On such a beautiful shoreline. :(

It kind of looks like Petra, or something. ;)

6. I have no idea, sorry.
maybe the Ritz paid extra for them to look "natural"?

they look like some sort of Greek temple ruin...

7. It looks like they stuffed those man-made pylons into the cliffside.
When that entire cliff erodes, that platform will still be standing.

They already have that rip-rap seawall right next to it on the left side.

That's my take on the pillars.

8. Yup, they sunk pylons into ground to shore up retaining wall/cliff.
Probably need to do it again. Big price tag.
