Who/what did you choose for your avatar and why?
Mine is "Beaker"; I choose him because he looked kind of neat.

My prior avatar was an orange ribbon. That symbolized that Orange Revolution.

How about you?

86. Okay, click the Options button at the top of the page...
Then on the Options page, click on the "Edit your profile" link which is in the menu on the left.

On the Profile editor page, you'll see this:

Avatar Image
You can choose from following images or upload your own. To use your uploaded avatar, add the following to your avatar box: personal/137338.

"Following Images" and "Upload" will both be links.

Click "Upload" and it will open up a window in which you can choose an image to upload.

The image has to be 3 KB or less, at the recommended dimensions of 48x48 pixels. (I can help you with that if you want, just PM me.)

It has to be a jpg or gif file. Just upload it, then put personal/137338.gif or personal/137338.jpg (depending on the format of the image) into the text box that is next to the Avatar Image section.

Scroll down to the bottom, click Update.

I shall not succumb to "Katrina fatigue" even if I am forced to once again put a paper bag over my head so as to endure the gridiron antics of those assclowns who managed to lose a game by getting called for defensive holding on a field goal try! (There, sports fans, is an example of how heinous NFL officiating actually can, unlike Sunday, alter the outcome of a game.)

against those selfsame Atlanta Falcons. Paper bags de rigueur; yellow hankies optional. So at least for the upcoming season, New Orleanians (past and present) shall once again be treated (?) to the sporting equivalent of a really bad sitcom episode, you know, like the one where you just know the neighbor is gonna get his ugly new toupee pulled off.

If only the NBA's David Stern had as much cojones! He's allowing the Hornets to bask in their sweetheart deal in the continent's sporting capital, Oklahoma City :sarcasm: for (everyone says) one more year. This although the N.O. Arena, right next door to the Dome, was never used as a shelter and appears to have been far less damaged. :eyes:

60. The old USARP patch design, from the time when I was involved.
I had Ensign Opus for a long time, then I changed it to "This Space For Rent, CHEAP" when jpgray did the avatar change thread, and I changed to this last night. I love Antarctica, and I think the colors complement the Source Mage GNU/Linux logo in my signature.

The line in my sig, that I wrote. "Patchwork"

Plus, it's very visually memorable, and I wanted that, once I realized that that was how I recognized a lot of people around here. Thought perhaps I'd make myself a little more memorable, and it's unique!

The first one I used was "God Loves You Unless You're Gay". I plan to rotate the collection over time.

112. Mine is random:
I prefer a sig.

Well it is this picture: I just like it.

That runs through a script I wrote that grabs a small chunk and adds a border and randomly leaves in color or makes it black and white.
Link

It is supposed to make a new random image every five minutes. But, that is giving me trouble right now.

I changed it at the week-end to mark the 6 Nations Rugby Tournament, before that it was Our Lady of Walsingham, before that it was the Ashes Trophy (the cricket trophy played between England and Australia), and before that the emblem of the England cricket team.

Weirdly enough, someone actually recognized Mimi from my avatar and mentioned it in a DU thread:
