So I went for my free Lasik consultation today |
|
I've been wearing glasses since I was 8 years old (I'm 45) so the idea really appealed to me. I went through all the testing, watched a video, filled out forms, answered questions. My corneas are thick enough, my eyes are suitable for it. Then I talked to the doctor.
She dilated my eyes and did a few more tests. Then she looked at me with a funny smile and told me that I have perfect vision.
How can that be? I asked her.
Well, I have 20/20 vision in my left eye for close up and I have 20/20 vision in my right eye for distance. Essentially, my eyes are exactly what people who go to Lasik are hoping to achieve! I'm a poster child without even knowing I was!
I said, then why am I wearing glasses - she told me she has no idea. I'd probably see just as well without them, all they're doing is evening out what my eyes do naturally. I need them to pass a DMV eye test but other than that, I could most likely see fine without them.
Just saved several thousand dollars!

He wears glasses now, but for a long time he wore one contact lens.
And, his eyes are different colors.
How cool that you saved so much money!!!!

4. I wore one contact for a while as well |

Everyone thought that was strange. Yeah, I was kinda feeling guilty about spending the money on it because I don't really have it.
I told the doctor I'd stop wearing the glasses, tell everyone I had Lasik and send them all to her! :bounce:

3. I had glasses twice in my life... |

Once as a kid, once in my late 20's.
Both times my eyes corrected themselves back to 20/20. I had never heard of that happening before, but the doc actually said it's fairly common if the vision problem is caught early enough and the vision isn't that bad. (Mine was 20/30, I think).

5. I think that was my original doctor's idea when I was a kid |
|
He hoped the glasses would correct them and make them both work equally well at any distance. It didn't happen and I've been wearing them ever since.
