You are my sunshine
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away

The other nite, dear,
As I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms.
When I awoke, dear,
I was mistaken
And I hung my head and cried.

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

I'll always love you
And make you happy
If you will only say the same
But if you leave me
To love another
You'll regret it all some day;

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

You told me once, dear
You really loved me
And no one else could come between
But now you've left me
And love another
You have shattered all my dreams;

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

Louisiana my Louisiana
the place where I was borne.
White fields of cotton
-- green fields clover,
the best fishing
and long tall corn;

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.
Crawfish gumbo and jambalaya
the biggest shrimp and sugar cane,
the finest oysters
and sweet strawberries
from Toledo Bend to New Orleans;

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

7. Evil hormones are responsible
for 99.9% of male behavior, and I have to wonder about the other .1% ....

4. This song used to make my son cry when he was a baby. A sad cry.
He's quite a sensitive kid, and still won't let me sing it to him. Says,"No, NO Mama!" :hi:

5. This song must have
alot of sad stories. It brought back memories
of my childhood girlfriend.
This was her favorite song and sang it alot.
Whenever I hear it I always think of her singing
it in a talent show.

11. Very cool
I sing it to our daughter all the time.

I would sing it to my son, but he is 15 and cannot be bothered!

12. It's the only song I can play.
I'm sure our grandson won't want to hear it when he's 15, either. He's so far away now that we have to sing it over the telephone. :(

Your daughter will sing it to her kids, no doubt. :)
