Quotes by policemen...

The following 15 Police Comments were taken off of actual police car
videos around the country.

#15. "Relax, the handcuffs are tight because they're new. They'll
stretch out after you wear them awhile."

#14. "Take your hands off the car, and I'll make your birth
certificate a worthless document."

#13. "If you run, you'll only go to jail tired."

#12. "Can you run faster than 1200 feet per second? In case you didn't
know, that is the average speed of a 9mm bullet fired from my gun."

#11. "So you don't know how fast you were going. I guess that means I
can write anything I want on the ticket, huh?"

#10. "Yes, sir, you can talk to the shift supervisor, but I don't
think it will help. Oh, did I mention that I am the shift supervisor?

#9. "Warning? You want a warning? O.K., I'm warning you not to do that
again or I'll give you another ticket."

#8. "The answer to this last question will determine whether you are
drunk or not: Is Mickey Mouse a cat or a dog?"

#7. "Fair? You want me to be fair? Listen, fair is a place where you
go to ride on rides, eat cotton candy, and step in donkey crap."

#6. "Yeah, we have a quota. Two more tickets and my wife gets a
toaster oven."

#5. "No, sir, we don't have quotas anymore. We used to have quotas,
but now we're allowed to write as many tickets as we want."

#4. "Just how big were those two beers?"

#3. "In God we trust, all others we run through NCIC."

#2. "I'm glad to hear the Chief of Police is a good personal friend of
yours. At least you know someone who can post your bail."

#1 "You didn't think we give pretty women tickets?
You're right, we don't. Sign here.

2. Sometimes they had to be sarcastic...
Just to keep their sanity, dealing with the ditwits.

Ever watch "COPS?"

4. I know it's a difficult job,
but many, many people have difficult and dangerous jobs and manage to treat people with respect. I'm not dissin' you at all Archae, I'm only saying that there's an arrogance in those "clever" retorts that I find disgusting. (Yeah, I've watched "COPS," and I think it portrays the worst of the worst.)

8. I agree that there is some arrogance, maybe it would appear that
they are responses made to someone that has already said something possibly inappropriate (like the last one, the "pretty girl" one). I'm curious as to what the individual getting the response said or did to get the response. Then we could all probably decide better which ones are funny and which are arrogant.

3. I Think These Are All OK
Those kinds of things are tossed around every workplace. Cops are no different.

5. Do you think it's common for people in public service
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 10:13 AM by Heidi
to speak to the public that way? I understand that there are sarcastic remarks made _about_ customers and the public all the time in any job, but to address people with disrespect just because _you can_ is unprofessional.

6. They're Ok By Me
Cops have a tough job. The rudeness they get tossed their way is a thousand times worse than anything in the OP.

Now don't get me wrong, there are cops, right in my own town, that i think are rude and need to be taken down a few pegs. A wrongful arrest or harrassment suit would be deserved.

But, i also know 3 cops (one a captain) from a city of 150,000. Their hearts and heads are in the right place, and i can easily imagine any one of them saying some of these things.

And, while we're at it, if you're ever stopped for speeding, try reminding them that they're "public servants". They just love that.

7. I was drivng downtown in Cleveland on a weekend, ...
... and I was going slowly looking for the street I needed to make a turn. A traffic cop yelled at me saying something like, drive not look! I shouted back, "Do you have any idea what you just said?"
