14. You beat me to it
Standing in the Grand Canyon, listening to nothing but a faint rustle of grass every now and then.

Sometimes we're just inundated with the sounds of technology and need to get back in touch with the nature from whence we came.

When Katrina came through and we were w/o it for a while, it REALLY made me appreciate things like that! But other than that, I say just life in general, and all life, not just ours.

21. The impact of Stan Lee's creation of the X-Men
That has to be one of the most delightfully subversive acts in pop culture history.

In those days, the comic book industry was still reeling from intense scrutiny by Washington conservative politicians, and Stan the Man decided to slip this one under the radar. Of course, the racism parallels are blatantly obvious to anyone over 12, but these stories were directed a younger, far more impressionable audience. Millions of impressionable young white boys had an opportunity to examine racism from a completely neutral viewpoint, with all the usual preconceptions removed.

Under appreciated to the max. I get the stories here before anyone else. People at work are always asking me where I get all the news before it hits the media.
