What songs force you to get up & start dancing? |
|
For me, "Alec Eiffel" by the Pixies sucks me right in. I can't help it. Good heavy cardiovascular movement, there.
Also, the more bump-and-grind songs I love are "Kiss" by Prince, and "Touch Myself" by the Divinyls (I sing along to that one. Badly.)
And "Imaginary Friend" by the Lemonheads is a great song, but my dance routine to that one is a horrifying combination of the people on "Friends" at the opening, and Elaine on "Seinfeld".
Anyone else out there who has music that renders you helpless? ;)

10. Thank you!! There's something so *cute* about that song. |
|
It may be the PG-14 appeal to it, because she never gets TOO bawdy (ex. the song "Love to Love you Baby")
and Billy IDOL was amazing. I concur. Mine would be "White Wedding". :P

That was during my bad-perm high school days. Wow.
Hey, do you remember "Baby Stay With Me Tonight" by Geoffrey Osbourne? I think of that as timeless and very catchy. I'd dance to that one too, out in public. (OK, I DID once, when I worked as a courier).

Otherwise, I remember many drunken college nights dancing to "Blister in the Sun" by the Violent Femmes (who DOESN'T) and "Blue Monday" by New Order. In fact New Order was pretty much my college soundtrack in the late 80s.

I had another Sugar Smack iPod Shuffle day. "Take a Chance With Me" came on first, followed by "Bittersweet Symphony". Unfortunately I was on the phone with tech support most of the day so I couldn't listen to much more. :(
Oh well... Easter is approaching, and I'm racking up vacation days... :*

I was alone in my office the first time I heard that (a co-worker loaned it to me) and something took over. I swear you are not alone. I have a glass door leading outside & I didn't care who saw me. I slid around my office. My boss walked past me & rolled his eyes when he heard me sing, "It's my shit". I did the best dance moves to that song, in my own opinion. And my boss, the way he cusses would make a sailor blush.

23. Scritti Politti ~ Perfect Way... |
|
I took a backseat, a backhander, I took her back to her room I better get back to the basics for you You gotta conscience, compassion, you got away with the word You gotta heartful of complacency too
I don't have a purpose, omission, I'm empty by definition, I got a lack girl that you'd love to be You wanna diva, a deduction, you wanna do what they do You wanna do damage that you can undo
Apart from everyone away from your love A part of me belongs apart of all of the hurt above
I got a perfect way to make a new proposition I got a perfect way to make a justification I got a prfect way to make a certain a maybe I got a perfect way to make the girls go crazy
I took a day job, amendment, I took a liking to you, I took a page out of my rule book for you You wanna message, a confession, you wanna martyr me too You wanna margin of error for two
Maybe tomorrow, the next letter, or when the weather gets better I've got to wait here for your moon to turn blue I made an offer, an exception, I made a sense out of you You took a good look at your book but I knew
In times of tenderness in terms baby so true Until such times as I can understand all the things that you do
I got a perfect way to make a new proposition I got a perfect way to make a justification I got a prfect way to make a certain a maybe I got a perfect way to make the girls go crazy
Want to forgive you for all the things that you do Wanna forget how to remember with you Maybe tomorow the next letter or when the weather gets better I've got to wait here for your moon to turn blue
Apart from everyone away from your love A part of me belongs apart of all of the hurt above
I got a perfect way to make a new proposition I got a perfect way to make a justification I got a prfect way to make a certain a maybe I got a perfect way to make the girls go crazy

so much.
Once, he came to my apartment in those Nancy Sinatra boots, picked me up & swung me around, singing that. "Cupcake" wanted to go out dancing to "celebrate" getting dumped, I wasn't in the mood, but he was all done up in that wig & gorgeous outfit.
I said, "No, why don't we have a girl's night in tonight?"
A single tear slid down his cheek, that manipulative %$#3@9*&76. So we went out dancing. That night, a guy slipped a rufie into my drink (my first & last rufie!!!!) All I remember was the tall Cupcake coming up to the short guy who wanted to take me out of there and threatening his life and driving me home. He really is a great friend.:)
