Good Thursday Morning, Everybody!
:donut::hi:
How are you today? Captain Clintmax of the Early Morning Crew here, and it's time to get this day started! :bounce: So we made it over the "Hump Day" and now we're cruising down to the weekend! :woohoo: I hope you have some fun stuff planned, unlike me who has absolutely no idea what I'm going to do yet on this weekend off. So, anyway, let's get this day going, shall we?

6. Good morning Clint!
I have nothing planned for the weekend except work. :puke: At least I have some good books to read. Right now I'm reading "Ethan Frome", and after that I have "The Handmaid's Tale". I've read both of them before, but they are worthy of re-reading.

Work, work, work. I certainly know the feeling. I love to read too and do every day. Right now, I'm reading a five book series that is kinda like an alternate history of King Arthur and his Knights. They are fantastic!

I'd slacked off a bit and felt my brain was turning to mush. I've gotten back into the groove again and I'm reading at a good clip. I still spend too much time on DU, but that's a fault I'll have to learn to live with.

7. Good morning Clint.
:hi:

Hope that all's well with you today.

We're a tad bit sleepy round here...but essentially jolly.

I'm on Livre d'Orgue by Messiaen :D

Who is the composer of Symphony of the Seas?

13. Hail, TJ!
:hi::hug:
All is well with me too! I'm glad to hear everyone is Jolly over there! As far as the "Symphony Of The Seas" goes...I'm not sure you'd like it...it is a medley of old sailor songs set to a dance beat and played by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. There are several albums in the series called "Hooked On Classics" and Louis Clark was the conductor. Here's a link and you can listen to samples:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000063T50/102-1009831-7252168?v=glance&n=5174

I suggest you listen to "Hooked On Classics (Parts 1 & 2)"

22. Things like that can be very useful.
The world of classical music can be very intimidating from the outside, and so unless you're raised on it, it might seem horrifically daunting to explore it. Bridge-music allows folk an easier access route.

My personal solution would be to provide half decent musical education....but that's a million miles away from happening.

We've got a beautiful sunny day here - still damn chilly, but I have to admit that I do like it (just as long as winter doesn't go on for too long).

32. What, no speakers?
The samples are 30 seconds long. If you want I'll send you the link to your regular e-mail and you can listen to it when you get home. I say "Dance beat" but it's really just a "boom, clap" - "boom, clap" kinda beat. It's not REALLY a dance beat...you'd have to hear it to know what I mean.

I'm glad to hear you're going to have a good sunny day! We are too here in North Florida! :woohoo:

79. We get to see England-Italy on Friday.
Which should be good fun - and I dare say that's it won't be tempting fate to say that I should like the outcome too.

One of my favourite parts of the Italy (and France) games are their national anthems, it's impressive enough to hear a stadium full of people singing the same thing but Inno di Mameli and la Marseillaise are superbly o.t.t. as well.

I'm just munching away the salad I made myself this morning.

This weekend I will be at my moms. I talked to the guy yesterday evening. Called him since I haven't heard from him all day. He didn't even got the message since he had his cell in his bag the whole time. He has to work this weekend.
So I will go to my mom and have yummy food. Anti Pasti, Ossobucco, Tiramisu :9

Well, if that transporter ever gets fixed, rest assured, it'll be Clintmax and me coming over there to visit. Especially is we're assured of a menu like this one. Ahhhhh, Italian food . . . so good, so comforting.
Glad to hear that you connect with your guy.

21. Well, it's like this ~
The contractor promised he would have the estimate in my hands on Monday afternoon. I finally called yesterday and left a message on his answering machine reminding him that I haven't heard from him yet.
Next week ~ I'll try someone else.
A call saying it was delayed would have been nice.

Other than that ~ I'm great. I'm focusing on the good plans I have for later this year instead of getting nuts about today.

They want 1/2 payment at the beginning of the job but they don't always finish it.

Hello Joani--
:hi:
I'm sorry you are having so many construction woes. I took on the rehabilitation of a house that was near collapse, only because it was next door to mine, and after many years it is finished and rented. We finally found a talented, reliable, honest contractor! There are too many stories.

I hope you get a breakthrough soon!

It's great to see you!

It's hell living in the house while the work is going on. The major jobs are almost finished.

I must be crazy but the next project will be solar panels. I was able to bring the cost of heating down 1/3 by installing a wood stove. That's inspired me to tackle one more thing. On the plus side ~ The house was just appraised at three times the amount we bought it for ten years ago. Not bad.

I'm giving myself the summer off to do a bit of traveling: www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x4685195 before MissHoneychurch and I drive south in September.

That's wonderful about the house next door to you. It must make you feel better to see something nice that you helped to create instead of a house that was near collapse.
Congratulations

I lost my internet the other day right in the middle of our conversation. How rude! You were gone by the time it came back. :(

I'm still waiting for those new pictures of Tony. :bounce:

Glad you made it over the hump day! It's been a crazy week here so far. Two parties were supposed to look at the house yesterday, but only one showed up. The Tuesday one seemed to like it and our realtor hasn't heard back from them yet ... maybe no news is good news. It was a young woman with a baby and her husband was out of town. So she had her realtor take pictures. I can't believe she would have done that if she didn't like the house. Well, SOMEONE will fall in love with it!

Today we get our taxes done. :scared:

Anyway, glad to see you today!

Lucky you on the taxes! We will owe big time this year. Hopefully, we've planned sufficiently for it. It'll be good to know. I sure won't be writing out that check until April 15, though!

It's another gorgeous day down here. It rained all week when my brother was here, so he doesn't believe how beautiful the winter can be. I'm really enjoying it. :)

120. I'm not sure.
I ran through Turbo Tax online and saw that. But they wanted to know how much the damaged thing cost (originally) and I didn't have a clue how to figure that out. And we didn't have to replace the whole roof, just repair it. The accountant should be able to help with that. But it won't cover what we'll owe because we sold stock that was from an employee purchase plan. I usually do the taxes myself, but we're getting help this time.

And then some! Hey, $400 back is better than $1 owed. One time we got something outrageous, like $3,000 back. That's the year we remodeled the kitchen. Nice. :)

Next year, we'll do better -- normal income, moving expenses ... should get a pile back. Can't complain, though. I'm glad we had stock we could sell. That's what bought the land. Oh, yeah, we're closing on the land tomorrow! We've already wired the money to the title company. Maybe we can start building our road next week. :woohoo:

139. Well, the builder can't start until May.
That gives us more time to sell the house and get up there. He wants us there when he starts. But he said we could save time by getting a gravel road put in for his trucks. It'll eventually be our driveway, but he'll pave it at the end so it's nice for us. And we have to get the property bush-hogged so he can study the contours with the basement engineer (we're having a sunlight basement). Then the engineer can design the basement during the "waiting" time. I'm VERY excited and so is harleydad. As a matter of fact, I've known harleydad for 32 years and I don't think I've EVER seen him this excited about anything.
:bounce:
I think we only got that big refund b/c harleydad got a bonus at work and they took out way too many taxes for it. And my disability insurance co. made me refund a bunch of money b/c THEY made a mistake, and that was all deductible. So, you have to wait for someone to make a big mistake if you want to get a pile back.

107. It's like a full fledged party here right now.
I hadn't slept in days, so I crashed for 12 hours straight and didn't get up until 4:00 today. I took my shower this morning as I got ready for school. I was drying off when I happened to look out the frosted windows over the bathtub. I said, no, it's my imagination. Then Yogi, my boy cat, called me over to the window to look. He discovered the snow and actually told me about it in his own cat way. I saw it and freaked. I was like a happy little kid. He looked at me funny and has been ever since. My aunt didn't get to sleep until late, so she told me no, she didn't want to see the snow when I asked her all excited like. I guess I am just a little kid at heart. It's great. I love it.

Living in Florida though, affords no opportunity for snow. Which, after living in Missouri my whole life and getting 26 inches of snow every winter, is a GOOD thing to me!

119. Hello, Clint!
I wasn't sure you were still around this morning. :hi: They are calling for a little snow on Saturday (my birthday) and I am planning to stay in bed eating some of Heidi's cinnamon rolls. She sent me her recipe to try and I think that's a great way to begin the weekend!

129. I can't wait to find out what you got me!!
I will definitely report on the cinnamon rolls, the process as well as the results. The great thing about Heidi's is that you make them the night before and bake them in the morning. A lot of other recipes, if you want rolls at 8:00, you better get up at 5:00. But here I am talking to the Prince of Early Mornings!

immediately. They make a mess, let me just tell ya!
