2. I know,..I like them, but it wasn't their best work by far... |
|
...then again, the Grammys don't have much to choose from--lots of talentless hacks in the music business.

12. Achtung baby wasn't even nominated |
|
HTDAB is good, but it's hardly in their top 5.
But conside3ring the compettion, they probably did deserve to win.

4. I'm not a huge U2 fan, but I just love Zooropa. |
|
I think it's because it sounds more like Eno than U2 sometimes.

5. How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb is one of my all-time favorite albums. |
|
And their first one, WAR is still one of my all time favorite albums.
They are timeless. They grow, change and evolve along with the rest of the planet. They're just human. They don't try to stay the same. Like us, they age, learn and move on to new things.
I can't ask for more than that.

Hey, just cause I'm old doesn't mean I'm er... senile.
Or maybe it does.
But it's not supposed to affect LONG term memory loss.

17. Other than that, I agreed with everything you said in the post. |
|
I did NOT like the Pop/Zooropa period AT ALL, but I'm glad that they are always trying new things and changing.
Unforgettable Fire is my favorite.

and it really pissed me off they won all those awards. I think Bono is a self-aggrandizing little twit, and all that "charity" he does is simply to puff himself up. I CANNOT STAND THE MAN.

14. I thought "All That You Can't Leave Behind" was better |
|
I love "Walk On". I think it's one of their better songs, joining "Pride", "One," "Where The Streets Have No Name," etcetera.

18. U2's last great song was Beautiful Day. |
|
But the rest of that album sucked.
Their last great album was Achtung Baby.
"Vertigo" is the kind of jam they should be farting in their sleep after 28 long years together.
I don't care for the Rolling Stones, but their album was WAY more deserving of the Best Rock Album award.

19. It was the Grammys, people! They're silly. |
|
They always have been. In the 60s, the Beatles releasing some of the most amazing recordings ever and Frank Sinatra gets the awards. Voting on what music is the best? Think of the amount and the variety of music produced in any given year. To quantify something so unquantifiable says more about those who would attempt that than about the music itself.
