Satellite radio conspiracy?
I have XM satellite radio in my car. For about a month now, at least a couple times a week, the strangest thing has been happening.

I will be listening to Air America when all of a sudden the radio changes stations to the Fox talk network. So I go from liberal talk to right wing crap in seconds - without touching the dial.

This morning I was listening to Jerry Springer and all of a sudden, I had Tony Snow yelling at me.

Is this a satellite radio conspiracy?

Is NSA involved? :tinfoilhat: :scared:

1. Check your programming
I have Sirius and there was some type of content or artist monitor that would switch to whatever channel they were on automatically. Say your listening to some jazz and Randi Rhodes is on, switch, your radio changes to that channel. I had accidentally programmed a few artist or station at one time and it was aggravating. I just reset the receiver and read the manual better.
Good luck :)

3. Alan Colmes has a great radio show on FOX radio
I was majorly pissed when they took his show off Sirius, after I paid $400 for a lifetime subscription.

4. Is it an ad?
I noticed there has been an extremely long ad introducing the stupid "FOX talk network".

Also, you might consider blocking the channel using the blocking options.

Reminds me I was going to do that... And also, The so-called Family Network and
the Right Wing Channel.

The irony of this whole thing is that I read the other day at least one of the
XM satellites was launched with a former Soviet ICBM. (FYI they have a few. One
is named XM Rock and the other XM Roll. Pretty cool!) I wonder how the right
wingers feel about *that*.

5. Block Faux news talk of my XM radio
What a great idea! I wonder if they will do that. i know that you can get XL channels
(Explicit language) blocked. While I am at it I can block america right.

6. Yeah, they've advertised the ability to block any channel you wish.
Check their website on how to go about it.

8. No that's what I thought too at first
But it isn't an ad.

The other day, I was listening to Rachel Madow and all of a sudden, Pat Robertson's voice invaded my car. He was being interviewed on Fox.

10. Ah, I see...
You have my sympathy.

Maybe there are others in traffic using remote controls and yours picks up the signal.

Since it's only one channel off from AAR.

11. Sounds like a dead or dying XM tuner to me.
:P

I had one that would take 5 minutes to load AAR when I turned it on. I replaced it with a newer model and the problem went away. You'd be surprised how weird the tuners get when they're screwing up.

The built-in tuner in my new car works great so far, no weird load times, etc.

14. Then it'll still be under warranty if that is the problem.
I'd call XM to have them troubleshoot. Warning: Their tech support leaves a lot to be desired. If they determine it's the tuner, they will provide you with a direct contact number for the manufacturer, who will probably have you take it to the dealership where you bought the car for replacement.

16. The thing is that it MIGHT be as simple as sending a re-set code
to the tuner from XM. You can do this by calling them or by doing it on their website.

I'd do that before I called the dealer, just to save time if that's the only issue.
