Anybody dealt with American Income Life Insurance?
...either as a sales person or an insuree?

My son-in-law has had a series of job interviews with them and I'm getting suspicious.

  • They originally implied it would be salary but now they're saying it's commission
  • They're giving ridiculous numbers for potential take-home pay
  • He has to come up with $700 for "training".

1. If you have to pay to work there, it's usually a scam.
At the very least, it's a pyramid scheme.

2. Run away! Run Away!
This is the deal. He will pay the 700.00 to "train" and get his insurance license. He will then sell to all his friends and relatives. He will then have to do cold calls and this is where the majority of agents find out that nobody wants to talk to a life insurance agent.
The insurance company is going to use him to sell his contacts- if hes lucky he will earn back the 700 dollar training fee.
If he wants to get into the insurance business tell him to go with a full line company that sells life/auto/homeowners. I wouldn't even think about trying this!

3. Seconded.
It's a come-on pyramid scheme.

4. Sounds like a scam.
Tell him to speak w/ a reputable agency instead. Just walk into any agency-Shelter, American Family, Farmers, etc and ask to speak w/ the agent about how to get into the field when they have a few spare minutes. In small towns they will be only too happy to talk to you about it. One of them would tell him how to get into insurance sales and those companies(along w/ many others out there) are reputable.
