Frozen Raccoon Thrown Through Window Of Home
Edited on Thu Feb-09-06 04:06 PM by matcom
<snip>

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. -- A vandalism case and a case of animal cruelty are tied up together. Someone threw a frozen raccoon carcass through the front window of a house in Hillsborough County early Wednesday.

The raccoon's body shattered the window and a glass table inside the house. The shape of the raccoon was left in the window screen.

"Totally absurd. I don't know what kind of mind would come up with something like that," said resident Lynnette Brooks.

"It's the first time I've ever come across this in over 23 years at the sheriff's office," said Lt. Frank Baker, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies said, even if they find out the raccoon was dead before it was frozen, the person who threw it still could face felony animal cruelty charges.

5. Don't know. But it is A-OK to freeze dead humans.

7. We rig national elections!

Seriously, though, I live in Hillsborough county, and I'm really perturbed by the idea that we have corpse-flingers here.

Tampa has gotten way conservative. My father-in-law is a native Tampanian (or Tampon) and he told me when you entered Hillsborough County they used to give you a free doobie.

8. Big shock...Hillsborough is my county.
Nice thing is, I know the Animal Services folks personally, and they do NOT play around with animal cruelty issues. The lead investigator is a real hard ass.

10. of course it was frozen.
a thawed racoon wouldn't break the screen, a window, and a table. geez.

i think its funny that in fla. you can blast racoons with a shotgun and it's fine, but throw a dead one and you face a felony.
