Name one good pop duet (song, that is)
Edited on Thu Feb-09-06 04:56 PM by Richardo
You can't.

Call this an unfair generalization if you will, but all pop duets suck*.

* With the possible exception of "I Got You Babe" - depending on how I feel that day.

1. Dick and Dee Dee weren't bad.

They had the strangest goddamned voices ever. It sounded like two David Landers playing Squiggy singing on "The Mountains High"

4. Well, I was thinking of bi-gendered pop duets, but I dislike that one too
They're just so contrived and yes, cheesy.

7. Since the wardrobe of each was at least half-female at the time
I think their composite could be considered bi-gendered. :D

How about Tammi Terrel and Marvin Gaye "Ain't no Mountain High Enough?"

Worse than a shabbily bearded Mike Love at stage banter, they are.

in the sixties. He is pretty good friends with those guys still so we would hang out when they were in town for shows. They are both really nice guys.

I liked Eurythmics as a band, but I'm looking for a good song sung as a duet*.

15. Marvin Gaye and Tammy Tyrell.
kd lang and Roy Orbison.

Johnny Cash and June Carter.

Male-female duets (as opposed to a group that has duettists at its core) that were pretty darned good.

Aretha Franklin and George Michael were good, too, with "Knew You Were Waiting For Me."

17. Nope.
I love kd, but Roy Orbison's voice blended with nobody else's. Too distinctive (and I include the fantastically lame Traveling Wilburys in that statement.)

Johnny Cash and June Carter: If you're thinking about 'Jackson'; it still strikes me as way contrived. But they are close to listenable.

Aretha and George? I can't even imagine how bad that must have sounded. :scared:
