So, I just threw a ballpoint pen on the floor, and my 3 cats have....
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 04:00 AM by Robeson
...spent the last 30 minutes batting it, putting it under the rug so that they can dive and try to find it, and picking it up and tossing it into the air....which begs the question: why do I buy them cat toys, when a ballpoint pen is the highlight of their night?....

1. have you never played with a ballpoint pen?
it is the most engaging, thrilling thing ever

but seriously, my cats do the same thing

they actually prefer wadded up pieces of paper above all else most of the time

i just like buying stuff for my cats as i have no children to spoil

2. I know what you mean....
...I buy them toys because I think it's more like X-mas for me, than them. We have no kids either, nor do we want any. We have 3 cats already.....best kids in the world!...:-)

4. i always tell people i don't need kids
i have 8 cats split between two houses (mine and my dad's) so there is always a little ankle-biter around and i wouldn't have it any other way

3. Lucy's favorite toy is an old shoelace
Sometimes she'll even get busy with it without me on the other end.

13. Reminds me of an old 'Peanuts' strip
Lucy was showing Charlie Brown all the toys Linus had (he was then a baby; I said it was old). Then she said, "So what does he play with all day long? The vacuum cleaner."

6. Anything not nailed down is a cat toy.
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 04:35 AM by Archae
:-)

Best cat toy around here, this rubber hose I was given to excersize my (then) broken shoulder.
The cats go nuts trying to grab it.

Boing! :D

Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 04:49 AM by MissHoneychurch
why do it there when you can also do it in the house? It is way more comfy inside. My cat was the same.

....and I accept the "beastie boy" comment with grace. It reminds me of my favorite artist who did a song called, "Beastie".....

23. One night, the youngest of my mousers brought a little
field mouse into the living room
Little critter was trying to hide under the coffee table
I told Katie Cat to take little mousie back outside
After a dirty look, she did.

25. That's so funny! But she seems very well trained....
...actually did what you asked her to do. Good job! In honor of Katie Cat, here's a song from the artist who's picture I posted....Ladies and Gentleman, Jethro Tull....

One Brown Mouse

Smile your little smile --- take some tea with me awhile.
Brush away that black cloud from your shoulder.
Twitch your whiskers. Feel that you're really real.
Another tea-time --- another day older.

Puff warm breath on your tiny hands.
You wish you were a man
who every day can turn another page.
Behind your glass you sit and look
at my ever-open book ---
One brown mouse sitting in a cage.

Do you wonder if I really care for you ---
Am I just the company you keep ---
Which one of us exercises on the old treadmill ---
Who hides his head, pretending to sleep?

Smile your little smile --- take some tea with me awhile.
And every day we'll turn another page.
Behind our glass we'll sit and look
at our ever-open book ---
One brown mouse sitting in a cage.
