Yum! Marzipan babies. Bite-size!
My brother sent me these pics in an email, which I grouped together.

Have you seen these? The artist is extremely talented, but it would freak me out to see these adorning a cake.

3. Surreal!

And very life like! :wow: :wow: :wow:

I didn't realize marzipan could mimic human skin so well. What does the artist use for the hair?

7. They may be fake
The size of the babies varies, as in just one fits in the hand for one picture whereas four fit easily in another. Plus you're right--marzipan isn't the easiest substance to work with for sculpting, and what process could be used for the hair is unknown to me.

8. My mother sent those pictures, and my sister replied, saying...
they're not really marzipan. I can't remember what she said they ARE made out of, and I've long since deleted the email.

6. Check Snopes. They aren't Marzipan, they're polymer.
They are incredible work, though.

http://www.snopes.com/photos/arts/marzipan.asp

"Fortunately, we don't have to ponder the deeper meaning of the symbolism here, because the items pictured above are not made of marzipan, nor are they edible. They're 2- to 5-inch sculptures created by artist Camille Allen (including some entries from her Shell Baby line of miniatures), and they're made from Prosculpt polymer clay and mohair. Definitely not the kind of thing most of us would find palatable."

13. LOL! You have any kids?
 Maybe it's the baby and not the art that creeps you out!

14. well, no. But I think it's the fact that there are
FOUR FREAKIN' MINIATURE BABIES IN THE PALM OF THAT GUY'S HAND! that freaks me out. :(

Well, that and at first, thinking they were marzipan, and that he was about to pop them all in his mouth like some m&m's or something. :puke:

11. Ah, you know
I thought of mohair when I was looking at them, but then I thought....

marzipan.... with mohair?! Who does that?

Well, nobody that's who! :D :P

As dolls, however, they're adorable. :loveya: Brings out my maternal feelings, which is hard to do.

12. Thanks for the Snopes link!
The idea of edible babies was too weird.
