I do!

I think it's bullshit, the only people that are happy are Hallmark and florists!

1. According to the guys on EWTN, it's about a totally legit saint
Which brings us to this question "Why has the Church capitulated in this war on Valentine's day?"

2. I wonder if I could convince boot manufacturers to sponsor
"Bootentine's Day"? Everyone buys each other boots. I can only imagine the sales! That is a holiday I could appreciate.

16. Yep. Holidays didn't exist before people came along.
Calendars and all that.

Well, I suppose that if you believe in the 6-day Creation, then God made the first holiday when he rested on the 7th day. But humans came along on the 6th day, so holidays still didn't exist until people came along. lol

It's nothing but a stupid holiday made up by the greeting card, floral, and candy industry!

I hate it! :grr:

Besides, why do you need a holiday to prove how much you love someone? Does buying someone expensive gifts prove how much you love him/her? I think not!

12. Yes, it's largely made up, yes it's certainly feasible that gifts
sent to a loved one/friend at a random point in time can be more romantic/effective.

Yes, the haters still amuse me.

18. It is a Saint's Day? It has been celebrated since the Middle Ages

Saint Valentine's Day

The popular customs associated with Saint Valentine's Day undoubtedly had their origin in a conventional belief generally received in England and France during the Middle Ages, that on 14 February, i.e. half way through the second month of the year, the birds began to pair. Thus in Chaucer's Parliament of Foules we read:

For this was sent on Seynt Valentyne's day
Whan every foul cometh ther to choose his mate.

For this reason the day was looked upon as specially consecrated to lovers and as a proper occasion for writing love letters and sending lovers' tokens. Both the French and English literatures of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries contain allusions to the practice.

20. My husband and I were discussed that today.
Why do school kids have to do Valentine's Day, and it's just a money making holiday. Then I said, "Wait till O'Reilly tries to make it into a Christian Holiday."

You forgot "chocolate".
