I cannot believe my good fortune today! I had a good experience....
at Fry's! (A very big electronics store, where the emphasis is NOT on service.)

I needed a new b & w cartridge for my printer....

OK, so now it's Friday afternoon, rush hour...great! The roads will be impossible, the store will be full of folks leaving work and in a hurry to shop, and I will not be able to get anyone to help me......

WRONG...on all counts! Hardly any traffic in my way...

The store is nearly empty.....

AND I got help! First from a salesman who was doing his own shopping...

We found the correct aisle, and I began looking for cartriges. All I see are the color/b&w combo. This is not what I want, but I took one, and headed for the checkout.

On my way there, I pass another salesman ringing up some stuff, and in his hand is a package with two b&w cartridges....

Excuse me, sir, where did you find that? I ask him. He says, I'll show you! So back we go.....and there they are! I hadn't seen them the first time...

And they are LESS money than the color/b&w package.....Yaaay!

So now I'm so happy! Celebrate my adventure with me!

21. I'm glad you're happy, but it's kind of pitiful what your post says.
As I'm sure you know.

Ah, but what the hell, I suppose we're better off that we can consider finding the right printer cartridges a triumph; 400 years ago, your triumph would probably have been being able to dig up enough turnips to keep your family alive until tomorrow...

32. Turnips. Jesus. To this day, I won't eat turnips just because
when I was a kid, everyone was pretty much poor in the town where I grew up. But those families who had someone who worked at the paper mill had enough money to buy frozen vegetables in the winter (though we all had apples and carrots down in the cellar); but the REALLY poor people had to eat turnips and such that they could grow and keep in the cellar during the winter.

So, though we were ourselves poor, I grew up thinking of turnips (and parsnips) as "poor people's food."

Irrational, isn't it? But I'm still not eating any turnips.

34. Or parsnips, right? Not to mention rutabaga.
But we won't mention rutabaga, will we?

I'm very unhappy right now. Not that I'm going to tell you why so you can help me feel better or anything; I'm just going to be frustrating and tell you that I'm not too goddamn happy.

Because you're my friend and you'll tell me that you hope things will be better for me tomorrow without asking for any details, therefore providing me the the opportunity to vent non-specifically, which we all need to do now and again. Yes?

If something is bothering you....pick up that phone and CALL ME....

I know it's late where you are....so what?

But I will still do as you ask, and so I say to you that I'm sorry things are bad for you right now....

I do hope that things will be much better for you tomorrow!

We all do need to vent non-specifically now and then, right! I have done so, myself.....

And you have helped me as well. I will not forget your kindness, ever!

I had a similar experience at Circuit City in Tuscaloosa, AL today

Verizon Wireless has a kiosk there, and just out of curiosity, I mentioned
to the salesperson that I'd paid $99 for the PC card I use for Net access
when one the road. Well, low and behold, a couple mouse clicks later, I
got a $50 credit on my next cell bill(store price was $49/2 yr contract)
