I'm feeling a little post-roadside schadenfreude right now (freep DUI)
Edited on Sat Feb-11-06 01:20 AM by ccbombs
I was driving home from one of my Dem activist meetings and spotted a patrol car with someone pulled over off in the distance. As I got closer I realized it was a DUI stop, with the dude doing the roadside test.

And then I saw the big ol' "W" sticker on the back windshield. I'm in Maricopa County Arizona so I hope homeboy enjoys Sheriff Joe Arpaio's Tent City hospitality. Every wingnut should get a dose of that good old conservative law n order gulag treatment.

over 2x. Reason given: Homeland security. They were two guys w/out of state plates. They said cops were real nice both times but jeez what BS.

2. No way!!
Gee, you don't think them being from California was a big factor in that. :eyes: I seriously doubt it would have happened were they from South Dakota.

3. He was going home to Mich.. A seasoned traveler, he had

all his papers/license, etc. in order. How bout this story. A pal was cruising his van to E. Utah.... He had one joint's worth of pot in the car in a baggie. Cruising through a tiny town, a cop started to tail him. He got scared & did a dumb thing. He emptied the baggie, sprinking the crumbs around his loaded, messy car and then tore the baggie into pieces. Cops found crumbs with the aid of a drug dog. And because the baggie was in pieces... they said he intended to distribute. Total BS. He ended up spending two days in jail and 15,000 to fight the rap. It was expunged from his record five years later for another three thousand. Moral of the story: Don't mess around on the road... ever.

4. Your friend with the baggie is lucky
In some states he'd be doing 20 years. You are right about being careful on the road. I don't have ANYTHING in my car, ever. And I'm a night shift worker so I'm always very careful when I travel in the wee hours. My collection of lefty and anti-Bush stickers might make me an attractive target to zealous law enforcement dudes.

5. In general, the road is a scary place. I avoid gas stations/ATMS at night
and I'm a big dude. A DUer just posted that it was the 15th anniversary of her best friend's disappearance... she was last seen leaving a convenience store on a highway, heading home from work.
BE EVER VIGIL, cc.

11. They're extremely vigalent along the I-80 corridor.
I lived in Nebraska for a long time. You rarely hear of a Nebraskan driving along I-80 and getting busted for possession or possession with intent to distribute. It's all those horrible outsiders, dontchaknow. :eyes:
