The Yellow Wallpaper (Gilman)

In my new bedroom the upper four feet of the walls are painted a very bright yellow with a red painted vertical board one inch by four inch strip every two feet or so. Do not laugh. It is very exciting.

But this is about yellow.

I lay in bed looking at the yellow and recalling a horror story I read years ago concerning yellow wall paper. In the yellow wallpaper room a woman lived pretty much as a prisoner. She visualized a woman and other things living behind the wall paper and crawling round and round the room.

At the end of the story she too was crawling round and round the room.

I do not do the story justice in telling here, one must read it. Prior to writing this down I researched 'The Yellow Wallpaper. I am surprised to learn it is a book it is a true story and it is more frightening than fiction.
