Poll question: should i ask for my artwork back? |
|
ok, i had a falling out with some long time dear friends. i was really stabbed in the back, they did some really shitty things including making quite a scene in front of my kids. they inflamed some trouble in my marriage, tried to turn my hubby against me, bad, bad, shit. we were all very close, kid friends and all that. for 20 years. even though we only saw them a couple times a year. it was quite excruciating. i am pretty over it. it was hard, but hey, shit happens. but here's the thing. i had given them several pieces of my artwork over the years. i gave them 2 large drawings, 2 ceramic pieces, and a framed photographic reproduction of a painting. the 2 drawings have never been framed or cared for properly. they did offer to return one, which was pretty well trashed from being tacked to the wall. i shook it off at the time, but... so, the question is, should i ask for my artwork back? btw, they never gave me/us any comparable gifts.

My ex and her family STILL has some of my best work but fair is fair. I gave them freely for good or ill.

one of the reasons that it chaps my ass- many nasty comments were made about my mental health, including- well, you know, you're an artist.

What's done is done. Think of it this way: would you ever recreate the pieces in question?
The relations ship is something that maybe meant more to you than them. I've discovered that a LOT lately in my own life, as I encounter old "friends". Wash those hands, and don't forget the blue acrylic under your nails :hi:

your comments are kind. i do keep trying. not sure about your other comments. they changed, moved to the ex-urbs, and grew that cloistered mind-set. sad, sad. although, dead seriously, i think there are some mental health issues happening there. i think a lot of what happened had to do with some projection of their own problems. their relationship is in the deep shit. the guy lost his job at about this time, and it had to do with attitude problems. so, a little of it is worry about them, and feeling like they are maybe in trouble. and here i am hatin' on them. or maybe i am just too soft.

Every time they see your art work, they are reminded of you. YOU can put this friendship behind you and move on. But they can't. YOUR art work is staring at them, from the wall.
It's the best revenge.
