1. What a beautiful homage
to a beautiful family, Mrs. Grumpy. My mother-in-law also creates gorgeous scrapbooks, and almost all of the birthday and Christmas cards she gives to the family have photos of special moments from the previous year. So, twice a year, I get cards with photos of The Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger, and these are really special to us. I just don't have the patience or, strangely enough, the creative energy for it. I admire you. :pals:

3. I try to send out a few special cards with photo collages every year.
My grandmother always used to do that. Thanks Heidi.

5. How do you do it????
Do you come up with a list of topic-specific "pages" and use the photos you have, or do you take photos specifically for later use? Do you use a digital camera and print your own photos, or SLR and have them printed? Your skill really mystifies me, and I consider what you're doing an art like any other art. It's so intimate.

7. I do a little bit of both. I sometimes take pictures (like the pets)
specifically for a page I am working on...but I usually get the idea from a picture I already have. Now I use a digital camera and print them up myself. I have one of when James was potty training that is my alltime favorite page...but I won't embarass him. :)

thanks Heidi for saying that. Sometimes people don't see it that way.

9. Some people are
art snobs. Screw 'em. :grr:

(And thank you for giving me the confidence to try making a scrapbook this year. When I start this summer, may I PM you when I get myself in trouble, as I surely will? )

2. The canoe trip of '01 looks so peaceful.

even if you get stuck on a rock ...

There's almost nothing as much fun as messin' around in boats.

4. We had so much fun that year!
Every year we take a canoe trip and camp with my dad. He used to take us when we were younger.

It is fun! Although this last summer it was almost a scene out of "Deliverance". :hi:

8. James is not really relaxed when it comes to the first half hour or so
on the river...even though we had never tipped over.

until last time.

We had a particularly rotten (banged up) canoe, and the Rifle River was not as I remembered it. We hit the rapids (which were never there before) and MrG and I could not keep the boat steady and we tipped. James grabbed onto a log and would not let go...the current was shoving MrG under the canoe and under water...and just, when we thought it couldn't get any worse, my father's and daughter's paddles went floating by along with their flotation cushions. We couldn't find them for about an hour and James and I ended up walking it the rest of the trip...with was about 10 miles on foot, with a rather odd little man following us on a raft. :)

11. An odd little man follow you. That would upset me!

The rest of the story is pretty wild too. I'm glad nobody was hurt.

14. My son never wants to go canoeing again...we laugh about it now.
He was just odd, not really threatening. He had property along the river. :hi:

12. Makes me wish
I had some photographs of my past life so that I could make a scrapbook. I have NO childhood photos except one. No baby pictures and a very few photos from my 'former life'. I've asked for some from my 1st husband but I doubt I'll get any.
Your creative talent is really something MrsG! Thanks for sharing it with us. Truly an art to be able to conceptualize and then put into a reality.
