Can I describe it as being 8th grade?

Kids in my 8th grade class used to have cartridge-pen ink fights in the classroom. When I was in 7th grade, we had 70 kids (I kid you not) crowded into a single classroom with a nun who was bonkers. Literally. She spent the next year in a psychiatric hospital, praying, we all hoped, to St. Dymphna.

She locked me in the closet once. Said I tried to kill her by intentionally tripping her so that she'd fall, break her hip and die in the hospital. All I had actually done was have my foot outside the masking tape lines she's put on the floor for us to align our desks to.

In 8th grade, I had this nun whose nose had probably been broken. It had an extremely discernible hook...so we called her Hooker.

The nuns in high school (Benedictines vs. Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary) were cool. There was a girl in my class whose father owned a liquor store, and from which the high school nuns had a regular beverage delivery.

who was the handynun. She was really clever, often seen walking around with a ladder. Always accompanied by her faithful German Shepherd, Duke. In the school. And he was one friendly dog...also the only male to live in the convent, which was also a mother house.

it was required to give Valentines to everybody. That's what I always did, and that's what I got. I guess that kind of Valentine is kinda meaningless, but it probably saved some people from feeling like they were kicked in the stomach. I always had a few guy friends in grade school anyway.
