What does your "handle" mean?
Oy, I may be showing my age (or not - I began e-chatting back when I was 10 years old) but I wonder what everyone's names (or handles) mean?

helderheid means clarity in Dutch. My name is Clarity.

Mabus will soon die, then will come,
A horrible undoing of people and animals,
At once one will see vengeance,
One hundred powers, thirst, famine, when the comet will pass.

or at least I remember running across his name a time or two.

As for Nostradamus, he gave a few other "clues" about Mabus, here's a sampling:

What does Nostradamus say about this third anti-Christ? First, Nostradamus tells us he will come from the Middle East.

Out of the country of Greater Arabia
Shall be born a strong master of Mohammed...
He will enter Europe wearing a blue turban.
He will be the terror of mankind.
Never more horror.

http://boisdarc.tamu-commerce.edu/www/w/willmc/nostra.htm

Say what you will about Nostradamus and his penchant for ambiguity, he seems to have known more about the 21st Century geo-political landscape than Bush.

watching anime and the like. I always had a fondness for the live action Japanese show, Johnny Socko and His Giant Robot. The Giant Robot of the title just looked friggin cool to my young eyes. Now it looks kind of silly, but then it was magic. And I was looking to find a little more magic in my life. Waxing philosophic tonight. And I'll bet you never thought there would be much deep meaning behind a man in a rubber suit destroying toy tanks and buildings!

47. Mine is corny, I know
I used to have a different one, but when Wes Clark dropped out in 2004, I was truly brokenhearted and cried for days. Then, for some reason, Skinner offered a name change period where you lost your post count, but you could change your name. I was just about recovering and I decided while I would be supporting Kerry, everyone would have to know that, while Wes wasn't running for anything, it didn't mean I wasn't still a loyal Wes Clark Democrat.

That's my story :dunce:

66. Mine is just a combo of loving the mountains & being intrigued with snakes
Ever since I was a kid, I was fascinated by snakes and had them as pets sometimes.

My passion is the mountains, though, especially hiking in the Adirondacks in any season. It's truly God's country there.

Sometimes when I'm climbing a mountain and I'm huffing and puffing, I think of myself as a snake moving slowly up the trail....thus the handle, mtnsnake.

Seriously, Hissyspit was my cat. She would hiss and spit all the time having her little hissyfits. She disappeared a few years ago.

Funny, I had just posted this in another thread and then this thread shows up.

94. Mine's elvish for "without spirit"
It was originally a name I made up for an elvish character in an MMORPG. I tried to come up with an elvish translation for "atheist," and "without spirit" was the closest I could come. Technically, it should be "Benfëa," but those silly umlauts are annoying when used in names for games, message boards, etc.

Vienna, 1920's.

I should have just used the real name. I have another one, "Michael Collins" which I use when I write stuff that is published elsewhere. I'm so lame, I didn't realize we had an astronaut with that name. I was thinking of the Irish Patriot.

This "handle" stuff gets overdone. I should have just used my real name from the start, Joe Montana.

But, what the heck...

108. Came from a conversation with a friend.
My friend was telling me about a friend of his, a real yuppie-type, and how this guy was telling my friend how he fancies himself an anarchist.

Of course, my friend laughed at this and told the guy that he was a "coffee table book anarchist." Then I modified it and said, "Starbucks Anarchist," and so it stuck.

Also, it's a contradiction in terms, much like myself. :)

121. Lochloosa is a song by a local group Mofro.....
It tells of the destruction of my once beautiful Florida....

LOCHLOOSA
Lyrics: JJ Grey

Music: JJ Grey

Home sick but its alright

Lochloosa is on my mind

Shes on my mind

I swear its ten thousand degrees in the shade

Lord have mercy knows – how much I love it

Every mosquito every rattlesnake

Every cane break – everything

Every alligator every blackwater swamp

Every freshwater spring – everything

All we need is one more damn developer

Tearing her heart out

All we need is one more Mickey Mouse

Another golf course another country club

Another gated community

Lord I need her

Lord I need her

And shes slipping away

If my grandfather could see her now

He'd lay down and die

Cause every minute every second every hour

Every day – Lord she's slipping away

Home sick but it's alright

Lochloosa is on my mind

She's on my mind

124. Kids Of The Black Hole
on the Adolescent's Blue Album

No sound is heard from unit two
When there was once so much to do
Was once a green mansion, but now it's a wasteland
Our days of wreckless fun are through

GO!

Kids in a fast lane living for today
No rules to abide by and no one to obey
Sex, drugs and fun is their only thought and care
Another swig of brew another overnight affair

House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
Kids of the black hole

Messages and slogans are the primary decor
History's recorded in a clutter on the floor
Inhabitants that searched the grounds for roaches or spare change
Another night of chaos is so easy to arrange

House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
Kids of the black hole

The nights of birthdays
The nights of fry
The nights of endless drinking
The nights of violence
The nights of noise
The nights that had to end for good, still not understood, by the girls and boys

Carefree in their actions as for morals they had none
When the girls were horny who would be the lucky ones?
Pushing all the limits to a point of no return
Trashed beyond belief to show the kids don't wanna learn

House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
House of the filthy, house not a home
House of destruction where the lurkers roamed
House that belonged to all the homeless kids
Kids of the black hole
