The next person that complains about the horrible obligation to pamper somebody they love tomorrow can kiss my ass. I'd give damn near anything to be able to do that and I can't. :(
I can't make you stop taking for granted having someone you love near enough that you can do simple shit like go out to dinner, but could you be considerate of those who have nobody or are away from thier loved ones and pretend?
Thanks.

It would be nice to have someone to fuss over for Valentine's Day.

2. You are both officially allowed to fuss over me. |
|
I am very easily fussed over. And I do believe this is the first time I've ever written the word "fuss". :-)

I have someone to fuss over, he just lives farther away than you, even.

Talk about being an ungrateful son-of-a-bitch! When you lose said person, you'll be PRAYING to have these opportunities.

12. Why stop there? Let's not complain about anything ever again |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-13-06 11:47 AM by jpgray
Odds are that right now there's a man lying paralyzed in Angola, who was just shot in the back by a South African mercenary. His kids are going to starve, his wife will sell herself to a second-rate warlord, and here you are complaining about people complaining about Valentine's Day. Shame.
Seriously though, complaining about superfluous trifling things we take for granted is the American way of life. And I won't have anyone say a word against it. Exercising your right to complain about nonsense (which in this case is other people complaining about other nonsense) is patriotic.

15. Darn right - sort of kind of! My SO is 15000 miles away and in hospital. |
|
:grr:
Though, really, other people's complaining does me no harm - it's how they feel, and they have a right to be truthful and honest about it. And I don't have to feel the same way, nor does it diminish my feelings one whit just because they might differ.
And let's face it - Valentine's Day is a made-up bullshit day anyway for selling cards, chocolates, and twisting a lot of women's minds into unreasonable demands and expectations, and making demands on the men. It's a nice idea in theory, but the culture has destroyed the meaning and turned it into an obligation of excess, which is sad.

17. Gifts, dinner, all that stuff is nice but.... |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-13-06 11:53 AM by DaveTheWave
...it's also too easy and routine as far as showing real affection. Instead just thank the one that you love for loving you and tell them you love them everyday. The gifts are nice too but if you don't have money to spend frivolously, like say $50 for a dozen roses or $10 for a box of chocolates, just draw your loved one a bath and put a candle and glass of wine in there.
