The more loathsome among us gets the most, and that person wins permanent ostracization from the lounge, and a lengthy stay in the forums devoted solely to guns and Israel/Palestine relations, until a period a four years, after which they can appeal to the mods to be reinstated (but only after a name change to "Temporary Sockpuppet.").

It's a complicated process, but one which will beautify and amuse the DU masses. So send a heart to someone you dislike today; it's like a nicer version of hitting "alert!"
