12. I gave in to the addiction.
it's harmless really. I can go six months with no Days, watch two episodes and be completely caught up! In fact, it's coming on in about 5 minutes! Brain candy is what I call it. I do get very indignant about some political things that are broached, but sometimes I am surprised.

I have known these characters longer than I have known most of my friends. It's really weird. What's fun is finding out a friend also watches it and we can go into the 'omg- remember when bo and hope were dating? remember Patch? etc...' That's more fun than the actual show I think.

7. Yeah - I love that telenovela format,
where they don't try to make something that is supposed to last for years, but just do a 3 month story with an ending.

What I hate about most sitcoms is they just keep adding characters and twists to try to keep it 'fresh' for later seasons - it just gets ridiculous...

13. My SO loves the telenovelas on Telemundo
The outfits the women wear are like soft-core porn. We were in a Mexican restaurant, and SO starts drooling. I look up, and here's this rich old guy dying in the hospital, and all the family is around the bed, and there's the old guy's way over-developed nurse in a skintight, lowcut, mini-uniform.

Amazing!

4. "Passions" is the only one worth watching...
"Passions" stands out from the pack due to its wonderful casting, excellent acting and particularly for the realistic plotlines.;)It is definitely in a class by itself.

31. I love that show! It's so campy.
They've done parodies of "Psycho," "Chicago," "The Osbournes." Then there was 'Nurse Precious,' the organgutan caregiver that Beth hired to take care of her mother.
:D

10. Does "Bleak House" count?
Wasn't Dickens the origianl soap opera author -- didn't he produce a lot of his books in episodic form? I remember people waiting by the docks to get the next chapter of "Old Curiousity Shop".

We're watching Bleak House, and it's pretty good. It might be BBC, but it's still a soap opera...

They highlight all the most destructive and petty impulses. The most immature drama queens I've known were big soap opera fans. Maybe it brought out the worst in them.

17. Good in small doses
I find Y&R very entertaining, but that's the only soap I watch. It helps to have attractive actresses like Sharon Case.

33. I watch Y&R every day
So it isn't super small, but I couldn't see myself watching more soaps regularly. I enjoy the continuing story, and Sharon Case is a bonus. :hi:

I started watching when my grandmother died, and I became my mom's new soap companion.

26. Actually, this brings to mind an epiphany I had recently
Which was that 24 (which I really enjoy) is a soap opera. A soap opera with a lot of action and suspense but a soap opera nonetheless. Read any synopsis of any episode and you'll realize it - cracks me up.

36. AMC, OLTL, GH (Now Scorpio's Back), The Daily Show and Colbert
Are the only tv shows I will go out of my way to watch on a regular basis.

It's all drama, baby. To hell with "serious" night-time network dramas.
