So after a day of bitching here's my requests about the hearts

Don't give them to someone you know will get a ton of them. Find someone who doesn't have any and make sure they get one.

I could easily make a donation and hit up all my DU friends but they all seem to be well-supplied. When I donate (which is after the 15th - payday), I'll make sure that my hearts are distributed to those who might not have received one yet.

Let our goal not only be 1200 donations but that every DUer who posts here gets themselves a heart!

someone whose posts I've quietly appreciated for years. It is a blast to see that DUer so excited about his/her one heart while I'm sitting here smiling. The other hearts I gave out, I don't even think those people are aware they've got one yet. Wish I had more $ so I could do that a few more times, it makes me feel fantastic, LOL.

I couldn't give a lot, but I was able to give a few DUers whose posts I've enjoyed and who were without hearts a valentine. It was fun, but now I wish I had more money to give. :D

When someone donates, they get a heart too, no?
So if someone has one heart, it could be because someone gave it to them, or it could be because they gave a heart to someone else.

Those who have one heart because they donated shouldn't be neglected...

But I'm not sure. I have one heart and I got a message in my inbox saying that someone had given me a heart so I believe it came from some anonymous friend (thank you! :hi: ) and not from my donation.

16. LynneSin, I can feel your compassion

the only way that I can comfort you is with a short dissertation on karma. This fund drive has brought out a lot of compassion and empathy from DU'ers and the DU'ers that have had their feeling hurt have not gone unrecognized. I think that it has been a blessing.

There are all types of karma - the karma of a species, a race, a nation, a community, individual, and even DU threads and posts have karma.

The collective karma at DU has improved due to posts like yours and donations from other DUers. I can only reach one conclusion - DUers take care of DUers. Especially in the lounge.

Keep in mind some posters in GD / LBN simply donated, and went about their business. Or didn't donate and went about their business. They come to DU for a very different reason then you, or I.

Today, someone here gave me a star and a valentine. This has been the best valentines day for me since 1999. It only got better with your call for every DU'er to get what was given to me. You were able to do for me what other DUers did, financially, for me today.

So, its all good. All this action based on kindness, benefiting DU. Its all good.

Is there a possibility that management will extend the date? After all, extensions and Valentines Day are a natural fit.

I don't want folks to be disappointed, and I've seen others discuss making the heart donations "later".
