What's the BEST THING that's happened to YOU....
In the last week? In the spirit of my SMILE threads, cheer me and you up by telling me about the best thing in your past week!

Mine: I finally got the promotion I've been waiting on, last Thursday

and

Saturday night, I got to dance with Briarius a whole lot, which doesn't happen often anymore! :bounce:

You?

1. Hi, Lynz.
My son prepared dinner for me while I was at work. He had his grandfather, with whom he was staying while I was at work, bring him to our house, and he made the following:

Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup
Green Salad
Tacos
Hamburger Helper Lasagne.

While the food combination was, um, odd, the sentiment was very sweet and I can't get over that my son thought this up and then carried it through.

:hi:

3. Maddy, that's so sweet of your son!
Yes, it's an interesting combination of food, but as they say, it's the thought (and the effort) that count. :hi:

12. Well, he will probably get to a point where the buddies are
more important, but if he follows the path of my daughter and many of my friend's kids, they will pass out of that phase and be a buddy once again! :hi:

He is 22 now and still very sweet and thoughtful. He kisses me every day when he comes home and asks me how my day was. He spent an entire day cleaning the whole house as a surprise for us last week. This kid was born sweet. Sounds like yours was too.

20. You mean like, - outside the typical?
Because typically, I'm loved my great people, longtime friends and family. I have the world's sweetest, most dog-like cat. I've got 3 good jobs, a nice place to live and a nifty car to drive around. And realistically I know the world is filled with people who can only dream about those kinds of joys in their lives.

But out of the ordinary stuff, - a teenaged boy told me he thought I looked like the chick in Ultraviolet. Pfft. I wish. I look like Mila Jovavich. You betchya.

After this week I will work in exercise. I have a job where I'm on my feet and running around for 8 hour shifts so I do get regular exercise but want to zone in on problem areas. I've noticed that my stomach has never been the same since my c-section five years ago. And for years I worked office jobs and developed the secretary spread. Time to target those areas.

97. I love this thread!
I have two bests--a personal and a professional.

The best thing that happened in my personal life this week was my Sunday of Valentine pampering at a spa with my partner: facial, pedicure, and the tastiest organic lunch you've ever met. My partner had TWO different types of massage is like a whole new relaxed sort of guy. Work has been stressing us both out as of late, so it was most excellent to just have some Us time.

And professionally, I finally got some estimates from a huge dataset that I've been working on for several months -- and they look reasonable and they mean something! Hoorah!

Thanks everyone else for sharing!!

Jean Louise

130. I dunno... I'm torn
The California job sounds TERRIFIC.... world class birding area, but the cost of living there is high and I'm worried that I'm overqualified for the job. There is also something to be said for a jobby job, though. When you go home, your time is your own. I've lived in CA my whole life, but it's one of the few areas I've never lived (Santa Barbara/San Luis Obispo area).

The NOLA job is temporary and the actual job sounds dry, but I'd make bank and I'd really like to experience the area, even as is. I don't mean to offend anyone, but it sounds like a real adventure. I wouldn't get a lot of free time, but being on the coast during migration would be cool, and since it's temporary and I'd make bank, I could take a long trip afterwards.

The Florida job I haven't actually talked to the people about, they just called and asked a few preliminary screening questions and I wasn't able to get a sense of the job, but Florida is one of the few major birding areas left in the US that I haven't been to yet.

122. Started my new job!
And I love it!

I was wasting away at my old one, stuck in a stupid department hierarchy and HATING life.

Them laying me off was the best thing that ever happened to me.

At this new place, I am the lone writer, and I've been handed a batch of awful documentation that I get to make pretty. This process will take a LONG time.

That's why I've been so scarce the last week or so...
