Why are people so cutthroat in retail? |
|
I work at this crappy job in retail, and everytime I turn around, there's always someone complaining to the manager about someone doing this, someone not doing that. For example: yesterday, I was standing around and talking to someone for a few minutes. I heard a fellow coworker of mine tell the manager that I was standing around and doing nothing. I was like :wtf: What's the point on telling on someone? It's a little bit better than minimum wage job, and there's little to no chance of advancement. What is the motivation of telling on someone? It's like I'm back in the friggen schoolyard. And what's sad is this was an adult who told on me!
This isn't the first time it's happened either. This is just but the most recent event that has happened.
Sorry, I just needed to vent.

Someone once stole a sale from me. We had two stores in the same mall. A man came into my store, and I spent almost half an hour with him, suggesting several styles of jackets that I thought would look good on him. He tried quite a few on, talked with me about the styles and colors, and finally settled on a particular jacket. Unfortunately, we didn't have his size in our store. I called downstairs to the main store to find out if they had one. They did. I sent the man downstairs to pick up his jacket.
The woman who rang it up used HER employee number instead of mine.
