Two years ago today, we lost our friend John
I love Valentine's Day, but I dread it. Two years ago, it took on a new meaning. It's now the weekend we lost our friend.

I wish everyone here could have known him. I have no idea what his politics were, but he was one of the more outstanding people I have ever had the pleasure to know. John was a curmudgeon. At the same time, he'd make you laugh till you cried. He LOVED being a cop. He always put others first. He was a guy in his 50's who listened to Metallica and climbed mountains for fun. I always thought he was immortal.

We miss him. Every Valentine's Day week, we're reminded that it's one more year without him.

1. He sounds like a great guy.

I am very sorry for your loss.

My mom lost her Uncle Sonny on Valentine's Day weekend like 15 years ago. She was like her father since her father died when she was 15.
Whenever V-Day comes around, I think of Uncle Sonny.

5. I'm sorry about the loss of your friend Julie,
Valentines Day has become bittersweet for me too. Ten years ago tonight, shortly after midnight, my Mother died.

Your friend John sounds like quite a guy. He died way too young.

Our loved ones may have departed the earth but they will always live in our hearts.

7. This is the truth
>Our loved ones may have departed the earth but they will always live in our hearts.<

I'm so sorry for your loss as well. I know that your mom is still watching over you. (She's probably there with my mom, who's trying to get me to eat more vegetables and put on a sweater...)
