1. I think curling is kind of cool myself.

3. I can't watch figure skating this year
I was all ready to watch Michelle Kwan try for gold for likely the last time in her career, and now she has withdrawn from the competition.

I partly watched the pair figure skating. But the female singles are more fascinating.

9. I love curling! I tried it once. Went to a "curling seminar"...I was sore
for days afterward. It's not as easy as it looks. I think it makes you interesting. :)

16. I am sure I would scream from the pain
the mopping sure looks intense.

What I find interesting is that it is not sure who will win for a while. And that one "stone" can change everything again.

:D I never played it when I lived in the Great White North, but I do enjoy watching the game. It's not as easy as it looks, and there's quite a bit of strategy to it, not just throwing stones.

which makes it even more fascinating. Also the way they move the stone that it is going exactly the way they want to (mostly at least).

30. Yes
The weekend was fun. No one I know died. <whew!> :) We had our annual taichi association Chinese New Year banquet. A string quartet on tour from China performed and we had the taichi demonstrations. We performers were in our silk costumes, just like in the kung-fu films. We had empty-hand and weapons form demos; I performed the broadsword short form. It was held in the banquet room of the super grand buffet restaurant. Fun and much food was had by all.

40. Yes and yes
Potato and egg soup:

3 cans (about 6 cups/1.5 liter) broth (all chicken broth or chicken and vegetable broth)

4 T--60 ml sherry

1/2 tsp--2 ml pepper

1/4 tsp--1 ml red pepper

1/2 tsp--2 ml ginger

2 lbs--1 kilo potatoes, baked or boiled (I prefer baked)

1/2 tsp--2 ml dill

3-4 eggs, beaten

Adjust amounts as needed. I used some of my homemade veggie broth.

Bake or boil potatoes and peel when done. Combine broth, sherry, and spices in pot and set on low heat. Chop potatoes or put in food processor with a little broth and blend to part creamy, part chunk. Pour beaten potato mixture into broth and stir, add dill, increase heat to medium. When near boil, stir in ONE direction, SLOWLY add beaten eggs while stirring--this is so you get the nice egg blend thru' the soup (like in egg drop soup) and you don't get a big lump of egg in the middle. Reduce heat and continue stirring. Garnish with parsley or green onions and serve.

I have enough soup for a couple of days. :9

36. Curling would be more interesting if ...
... the commentators would somehow explain the rules, or the scoring system or something!

I watched some of it last night, and for the life of me, couldn't determing who was ahead, how someone got a point, or anything.

Mostly, I was trying to figure out what kind of shoes the sweepers were wearing, whether their feet got cold, how they managed not to fall down.

That kind of mental nonsense defeats the purpose of the competition.

38. I love watching curling
It is fascinating to watch, with so much strategy and precision.

I got hooked on curling at the Salt Lake Olympics, while waiting for another event to start. We had to get to the event very early because our tickets were general admission, and while everyone was waiting for the runs to start they showed a curling match live on the huge replay screen. The whole crowd was thoroughly into it, even though most weren't sure what was going on. But we would all oooh and ahhh in unison, as if watching curling in a (very very cold) sports bar :)

39. CANADIAN!
Only Canadians "get" curling. Or Minnesotans. We have a lot of curling in Minnesota. In fact, the US curling team trained in Minnesota, and all but two members are from here too.

I live 1/4 mile from an indoor curling club, although I've never been inside. It always looks busy, though. :)
