1. I grew up near the epicenter of Hacky Sackdom.
If you go to Pioneer Square in Portland, OR, you can still find indolent teenagers playing. We called them hacky slackers.

Edit: That's not the story I wrote. Mine was for the Monterey, Calif. paper and was much longer. :7

4. They were all the rage when I was in high school
My best friend was always kicking one around. I never got into the craze myself, but then I was never into anything remotely sporty except roller skating.
