But like every other celebration it's been ruined by commercialisation. Also, as I'm single at the moment it doesn't really have a purpose - I'm definitely not keen on the notion of sending Valentines to all and sundry.

I'm going to call my Mom tonight when I get off work and talk to her for a while to wish her a Happy Valentines Day. My parents live in Missouri, so I don't get to see them but about once per year.

I see my family a few times each month. Even my grandfather (who still lives in E. Yorkshire) is brought down here a few times per year.

16 1/2 hour drive. :scared: So I can only get back up there once a year on one of my weeks vacations. The second one, I try to go somewhere special. Last year it was Rome, Italy! :bounce:

When I was at university in Scotland that was only about 500 miles.

I'm trying not to say anything about holiday allowances...it would be rude for me to gloat over the far more generous amount of time that we get over here. :P

When I worked at OfficeMax in Missouri, I had 4 weeks vacation every year. Trouble was...I had a hard time scheduling that much time off. I glad YOU get a lot of time off!
