Poll question: Do you like the new Olympic medals?
I like the old medals better. The new ones look like DVDs on a ribbon.

The old medals:

1. Every olympics has a different medal

and they are all pretty cool.

2004 went for a 'classic' look.

I think the 1992 winter ones were square.

My favorite was the one from 1994 in Lillehammer. They were made of stone, with metal edges and highlights.

10. There are no "Old Medals"
Each host country designs medals specifically for their Olympics. What you're showing is simply the design for Athens. If you look up every medal you'll find they are unique for each Olympics.

I don't think those who are taking medals home are thinking "Damn this things look like discs on ribbons". I'm guessing they're thinking "All those years of hard work and sacrifice have finally paid off"

11. I think it's the hole in the middle I don't care for.
A medal should look like a medal---not a disc. Just sayin....

12. The hole in the center represents the open-air of the piazza
and are also meant to showcase the "heart" behind each olympic victory.

Each olympic committee designs their own medals. My first reaction many months ago when they released the design was negative, but I've come around since seeing some of them awarded and hanging around the athletes' necks. I think they look good.
