My husband didn't get me flowers
It's OK, though. He painted the house. That makes up for it!
Happy Valentine's Day everyone . . .

4. I didn't get any flowers either
We have been married 30 years and he has never sent me flowers.

Should I be worried?

7. Worried?
I think the 30 years cancels out the lack of flowers. ;)

5. Flowers last days, paint lasts years!!
True love is a well-painted house to be looked upon each day and appreciated. Especially considering the hours of labor that I'm sure went into it.

Plus, money saved is money better spent...on you (hopefully).

I love the new color, too. I'm kind of glad he didn't buy the flowers. I like the house better!

15. I hope this will make you feel better about it

The Pesticide Action Network North America says that "behind the facade of perfect conventional roses lies an industry based on labour exploitation and pesticide poisoning of women and children -- a jarring disconnect from the noble feelings that drive demand for flowers on Valentine's Day."

Millions of roses are imported from Ecuador, Colombia and Mexico. And because they're not food items, they're exempt from pesticide testing. This allows flower growers to rely heavily on toxic chemicals that also poison their workers, says the pesticide network.

Up to 70 per cent of floriculture workers in Ecuador and Colombia are women, and in Ecuador another 20 per cent are children, the group notes.
