I haven't slept in 37 hours.
I spent the past 3 1/2 hours lying in my bed, reading a book and/or watching TV, trying to get something going.

I'm gonna go eat breakfast now (Maybe with some hot tea). This is starting to scare me.

3. I guess you could say that.
There's this one class I'm taking this semester that's eating up a lot of my time and patience. Maybe that's subconsciously doing it.

5. No tutors exist for this course.
The weird thing is that I'm getting A's in all my other classes.

12. It's a design fundamentals course for architecture.
I've been contemplating switching my major from architecture to art. I'm a phenomenal artist, but a mere average designer.

14. Before you do that - make an appointment with the prof
I am guessing this course is upper division, so the prof is likely more available?

16. Are you a perfectionist?
I find some of the stresses I put on myself trying to be perfect actually gets in the way of doing my best. If I'm at work and worried about something, the anxiety interferes with my ability to concentrate! I'm learning to let this go and not feel as if I need to be perfect, and subsequently, can perform better. All you need to do is your best, and that's your best while taking care of yourself, not your best taxing yourself to the detriment of your health (which will keep you from really doing your best).

7. I'm split on the whole deal.
On the one hand, staying up purposely for 50-60 hours straight when you need to can be somewhat of a rush and exciting.

On the other, insomnia like what you have (and I've had it MANY times, believe me) just sucks. You can't go to sleep no matter WHAT you try, and then your mind starts going stupid, like you find yourself thinking about old Saved By the Bell episodes.

Eat a lot of pasta. That usually puts me out.

8. I feel for you; I'm an insomniac.

Something I've noticed is that the more I have it in back of my head that I need to go to sleep right now, the more frustration I feel, and of course it's normal to stay up when you feel that kind of tension. Try to do something that will occupy your mind so much that you won't have that frustration going on in the back of your head, and it won't keep you up. I've had times where I was dog-tired two hours before bed time, but then after working on something to keep me awake I'd worry that I wasn't as tired as before and that would keep me up. However, just by the fact that I was tired before, I know that that means that my body wants to and will fall asleep (which is good)...if I get out of the way by not subjecting it to more tension in the form of worry. As a result of being able to prove to myself that my body wants to sleep several times like this, I really have not much of a problem falling asleep anymore. I actually feel that controlling worry about sleep is the biggest factor in overcoming insomnia.

I would, however talk to a doctor to get some temporary relief, and if your insomnia starts getting long-term, I would see someone who specializes in sleep at a sleep clinic. The reason why is that if you nip this problem in the bud now, you'll have a lot less worry surrounding sleep.

11. Have you tried to get this treated?
There's actually some simple things they can do to try to reset circadian rhythms, even without medication.

15. Good!
I don't want to get the post locked by giving medical advice (and really it's not a good idea for me to), but I'll say that when you see a doctor, some of the options they might give you might involve employing a shifting schedule for a short period, bright light therapy, and wearing sunglasses at certain times. I'll say too that going with a sleep doctor who's seen a lot of patients specifically for sleep helps ease the anxiety you might feel about your sleep as they've seen many, many patients recover.

But then again, they fixed almost everything that was wrong with me. I swear by them.
