the bearded, 61-year-old Lucas also specified his targets, particularly when one fan asked him to identify any real-world political metaphors in his "Star Wars" movies. He obliquely taunted Vice President Dick Cheney, known both for his considerable power and, most recently, for his accidental shooting of a hunting friend.
"In the Empire, Congress is irrelevant," Lucas said. "They come, they talk, they rant, they rave, they vote, but it doesn't mean anything because the emperor controls it all. He doesn't care about the democracy part of it.
"And it's not who you think," Lucas quickly added, for those who assumed he was alluding to President Bush. "Because the emperor works behind Darth Vader; he doesn't actually stand in front of him. I say that in fear of getting hit with a lot of buckshot."
